eat the freakers?

so currently playing the game and people are talking about the fish and deer population declining and about food worries.

i wonder why they dont just eat the freakers?
there seems to be plenty of em.

Well considering the number of infected carrion eaters, I wouldn't eat freaker meat.

Really? You would even consider eating such things and thinking that washing and cooking it right will just make it all good?

Take a piece of chicken and leave it on the counter for a couple weeks. See how that works out for you. Do you know what they do to chicken farms that get infected?

the people who survived are immune to the virus right? (atleast i assume)

if u leave a piece of dead chicken on the counter it will degrade and also catch bacteria,
bacteria will produce waste (poo) and some of that waste will not be rendered edible by heat and will be toxic,
freakers are alive they dont degrade or generally catch uncontrolled bacteria right?

according to google most viruses die at 74c and others at 121c which a high pressure cooker would reach.

mad cow disease isn't even a virus, the freakers are because of a virus right?

yeah bird flu farms get cleared but that's the modern happy world,
u can eat bird flu meat if u cook it,
u may say that it would be stupid and risky but if that's literally all u can really get your hands on and not eating would mean starving u would do it right? and the survivors are atleast resistant anyway right?

That's why they are farming and hunting. What you suggest would be a last resort to even regular old cannibalism. Instead of eating dead and rotten human meat you'd at least start with the freshly dead. There's always a weakest link in the camp.

But hey, you want to eat dead rotten humans then by all means I won't stop you but some lines I won't cross. And if we were in the same camp chances are you're not making it til morning. I'd probably pop you in your sleep before you started looking at me as dinner.

Carrion eaters, eat carrion. Carrion is dead animals. Dead freakers are just dead animals to them, so they eat dead freakers, and become infected.
Maybe cooking dead freaker would destroy the virus, so it'd be safe to eat them. But then there's the cannibalism aspect.

if cooking would make it safe to eat u would rather die from starvation then eat freaker meat even if it was the only viable option? i dont get that :/ but allright.

But freaker meat/cannibalism is not the only viable option in the game, is it? There are plenty of plants to eat, berries, mushrooms etc. You can hunt uninfected animals, so proteins and fat aren't a problem either. There's a local shortage of animals near the camps, but go a bit further afield and there's plenty of game.
If we were in the same camp together, I'm with BioFringe. I wouldn't want to take the chance of not waking up, because I'd become your breakfast.

But freaker meat/cannibalism is not the only viable option in the game, is it? There are plenty of plants to eat, berries, mushrooms etc. You can hunt uninfected animals, so proteins and fat aren't a problem either. ingame its implied that the local wildlife/fish etc is getting depleted and there is a good change that people wont make it in the next year unless the problem is adverted.

that problem seems very easily solved if they would just consume the freakers.

i googled and could not find anything about it so i asked on the forum.

also this is about why they dont do it, its not a personal question like u or me idk why u guys make it about that.

but if we are in the same camp that would mean we are allies, and u would just kill me because i would want to eat freakers? thats murder.

pretty sure u would be hanged for murder by the camp too, like u cant just kill other people because u don't like their idea's,
and making stuff up like me wanting to kill u and eat u just because i want to eat freakers is stupid
