Injections at NERO Checkpoints vs NERO Research Sites
I collected all the injections from the Mobile Medical Unit's at the NERO Checkpoints up north. 7 or 8 or whatever. I traveled south and then realized I passed up the injections at the NERO Research sites. I have saved copies of my "Game Saves" prior to going south.

I could load up the saved games (I know how to do it so it is compatible with the Cloud Saves) and get them before going south, but is it worth it? Was it a significant mistake leaving the northern region injections on the table? Can I make up the lack of northern ones in the south? Does it matter?

I don't want to be at a severe disadvantage fighting the hordes.

TIA

Many people play by not using the injectors at all. So the real question is, How much of an advantage do you want to have?

I mentioned in one of your other threads that I played through once by only doing the main mission. That meant only injectors that I was sent in the immediate area of. I was fine.

I even did a play through with no health injectors. I was fine.

Many players skip the Focus because they feel that bullet time makes the game too easy.

It's really up to you on how to proceed based on how difficult the game feels at any given moment.

In otherwords...they are all optional.

BioFringe,

I appreciate your replies. Most (but not all) games I purchase and play are a one time play-through. Therefore I try to not leave to much unfinished business behind.

If that is the case then I would suggest starting back over from prior to heading south and make sure to hit up everything before you leave. At least in regards to the injectors. They will all have a data recorder nearby so there's story filler for you as well.

It should be noted though that you don't need the injectors at all in order to handle hordes. You will also only face 1 mandatory horde in the south. After that you can return north and get the rest before doing any other hordes.

You will return north again well before the story completes so plenty of time.

Well then, I will continue south playing mostly the story line and if I'm still inclined to get more injections back in the north, I will deal with it then.

I think that's a good choice and I think you'll be fine. Only exception would be if you currently felt underpowered. Chances are you don't if you made it this far.

EDIT: I'm not a great player and I didn't need them. They feel like they make you more of a Superman than keep you level with the progression. I kinda feel that the game is balanced around not needing them so that no one misses out on the story because they didn't get a certain amount of injectors. Don't get me wrong, they are really nice to have but are more geared towards making you overpowered IMO.

If you do end up having trouble with the mandatory horde down south, don't forget that the bonuses from patches you earn in challenge mode apply to story mode as well. The bullet penetration one helps A LOT with hordes.

The Challenge Mode is a feature that I have not played. However there is a "bullet penetration" skill in the main game that I chose that powers bullets through 2 or 3 enemies if they are lined up behind the original target. Is the bonus patch redundant or does it add more power to pierce more bodies?

It adds more penetration. +1 for the bronze patch, +2 for silver, and +3 for gold.

EDIT - If you can lure a horde so that it's coming at you through a confined or narrow passage (between buildings or other obstacles) then you can slaughter loads of them with burst fire from a heavy machine gun. :)
