I mentioned in one of your other threads that I played through once by only doing the main mission. That meant only injectors that I was sent in the immediate area of. I was fine.
I even did a play through with no health injectors. I was fine.
Many players skip the Focus because they feel that bullet time makes the game too easy.
It's really up to you on how to proceed based on how difficult the game feels at any given moment.
In otherwords...they are all optional.
I appreciate your replies. Most (but not all) games I purchase and play are a one time play-through. Therefore I try to not leave to much unfinished business behind.
It should be noted though that you don't need the injectors at all in order to handle hordes. You will also only face 1 mandatory horde in the south. After that you can return north and get the rest before doing any other hordes.
You will return north again well before the story completes so plenty of time.
Well then, I will continue south playing mostly the story line and if I'm still inclined to get more injections back in the north, I will deal with it then.
EDIT: I'm not a great player and I didn't need them. They feel like they make you more of a Superman than keep you level with the progression. I kinda feel that the game is balanced around not needing them so that no one misses out on the story because they didn't get a certain amount of injectors. Don't get me wrong, they are really nice to have but are more geared towards making you overpowered IMO.
The Challenge Mode is a feature that I have not played. However there is a "bullet penetration" skill in the main game that I chose that powers bullets through 2 or 3 enemies if they are lined up behind the original target. Is the bonus patch redundant or does it add more power to pierce more bodies?
It adds more penetration. +1 for the bronze patch, +2 for silver, and +3 for gold.
EDIT - If you can lure a horde so that it's coming at you through a confined or narrow passage (between buildings or other obstacles) then you can slaughter loads of them with burst fire from a heavy machine gun. :)
Mmmm...
