Windows scaling bug?
Hey guys, i searched a bit but couldn't find anything about it.
Just bought the game, it runs fine. But i play on my tv, which is 4k and the windows scaling is set at 300%.

When starting up the game, the game gives me a max resolution of 720 something (i forgot which res, it isn't important). But when i start the game and my scaling in windows is set at 100%, i have my 4k resolution in the options.

Is there a way around this? It's annoying to switch my display settings in order to play this game at 4k.

I personally thought your post was confusing so I asked ChatGPT for clarity, and it had this to say about it.

ChatGPT - "It seems like the game resolution is affected by the Windows scaling setting. One potential workaround you can try is to change the compatibility settings for the game executable. Here's how you can do it:

Locate the game executable file. This is usually a .exe file in the game's installation directory.

Right-click on the game's executable file and select "Properties."

Go to the "Compatibility" tab.

Check the box that says "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:" and choose "Application" from the dropdown menu.

Click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the properties window.

This setting change may help the game to run at your desired resolution without being affected by the Windows scaling setting. Keep in mind that this solution might not work for all games, but it's worth a try.

If the issue persists, you may also want to check for any in-game settings or configuration files where you can manually set the resolution.

Additionally, ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause resolution-related issues."

I have problem understanding what you wrote as well.
From my understanding your game starts at fullscreen exclusive and that screws up windows scaling?

Change from fullscreen to borderless it should solve the problem. Since borderless doesnt affect desktop resolution

OH sorry, was my first comment not clear? I am sorry about that, i do think that chatGPT did understand my question, i'm gonna try that, this fix sounds familiar, think i've done it before for another game. Will reply when i've tried that. Letting you know if it worked or not.

But for clarity let me try to rephrase my question.
----------------
In windows you can set your display scaling, normally it's 100%, but in some cases you would want to increase that, otherwise your text will be very small.

For my 4k TV, i need to set it too 300%, windows even recommend that. (You can find this setting in windows under display, option is called scaling)

I've noticed that when i start the game while my scaling in windows is set on 300% that the game doesn't recognize my tv as 4k, but a lower resolution, hence giving me only lower resolution options.

If i set the windows scaling to 100%, all the normal resolution will be available to me in game.

I see.
Just do borderless(window) mode. It should scale up to fullscreen without actually being fullscreen. All modern games this days are recommended to play this way.

P.S
What he posted from chat bot, actually makes sense now.
Some applications need fix for windows scaling as they report improper resolution with windows upscaling. Using high dpi override will fix the issue untill official patch.

Problem with the above DPI override is that it can cause worse quality image then intended for that resolution.

Try both

P.P.S
Using windows scaling is not quite common and you might encounter this kind of bugs a lot.

So i would suggest looking for different solution. (if none of the above work as desired)

One would be a script that would change quickly scaling to normal (100%) and back to 400%
