Some IGN "journalist" took it and blew things way out of proportions.
No the data/logs sent to the developers are through the games .exe calling the CRS uploader.exe, you should be fine just blocking the main executable "DaysGone.exe" but you can also delete the crs-uploader.exe which some have said is the data collector tool, when in fact after looking at Network connections it's clear the games main .exe has active network connections to servers at all times, after blocking the main .exe there are no connections to their servers only Steams, if your unsure about deleting the crs-uploader.exe just move it another location for now or also block that in the firewall.

The cloud saves are separate and are uploaded to Steams cloud servers.
Also I have read the Privacy policy and it states nothing of "Key Loggers" only gameplay/hardware configuration data being sent or data they collect if you use their website.
