(3-5 min crashing) Check your temps, check your Error Logs, and disable unnecessary background processes. Last resort, try rolling 'back' your GPU drivers.
Hello, you can try out some of the solutions in this guide, where I've tried to list the main causes of problems with the game. Don't forget that this kind of problem comes either from a conflict or instability, not being compatible with the game. It's sad and annoying, but sometimes it's like a police investigation. It shouldn't exist, but there's nothing else we can do.

I own an Alienware 18 laptop, originally, it had 2 * 780m GPUs, but at some point I lost one of them, and years later, when I got Days Gone I had to play it with the remaining 780m GPU.
I was able to finish the game a couple of times with no issues, and started my third play through.
But unfortunately, I lost the remaining GPU so I stopped playing almost all games except the ones that the built-in GPU was able to handle.
Anyway, on October this year, I got a new gpu, Nvidia 980m, that's the maximum gpu that my laptop can handle.
I tested some games including Days Gone and they all worked good.
Lately, I discovered that Days Gone crashes after playing for some time "unfortunately I can not remember If i tested it enough with the new GPU", also a free game called YLands that I added lately to my library, crashes randomly when I click "Adventure" from the main menu.
In the Windows Event Viewer, after the crash, there is always this error regarding a file called "nvlddmkm.sys".
I tried to stress test the GPU using Furmark app, it crashes if i select any Antialiasing setting.
I tried so many things but nothing changed, like:
- Updating the drivers or even trying older drivers making sure to use DDU app every time.
- A lot of registry editing and changes to Windows settings.
- Even a fresh install of Windows 10.
At this point, I thought that the problem is one of the following:
1 - the GPU is bad.
2 - the power supplied to the GPU is not enough, but if that so, the whole system would shutdown, or maybe I am wrong.
3 - I read somewhere that there is a specific Windows 10 update "kb5032189" rolled back in November that caused some problems, and people suggested uninstalling it, but I did not have the option to uninstall it, so I am not sure if this is the real problem.
THE FIX:
The only fix that worked for me was to downclock the GPU clock using the app MSI Afterburner.
I started with -25 and gradually lowering the clock by -5 untill I found out that at -40, the crashes are gone, even while stress testing the GPU using Furmark app.
So sorry for the wall of text
