During campaign, your first horde mission is chemult hordes.
If you search from google, you will get one of the best side arm after clearing the first 4 hordes.
I feel that taking hordes early on (when our character is still weak and lack of fire power) was the most enjoyable experience in this game. By the time I reached chemult hordes, I already got used to dealing with hordes. And then later on, eliminating 500 freaks was not hard.
You'll come across the Saw Mill Horde fairly early in the game. That is a story line horde for during the end (of the story line) game. You can eliminate it earlier, but you won't get the 'horde killed' credit. You will get the ear bounties though. If you take it out early, when you come back at the right time, that's when you get the 'horde killed' credits. BEWARE. Some players have said the horde respawned for them and they had to take it out again.
Forewarned is forearmed :)
This game has glitches/bugs and problems for some players. Taking out a horde earlier than the story line wants you to, seems to me would be ripe ground for causing problems.
The other horde is one you take out with Captain Kouri in attendance. It's the test for Napalm Molotovs. This is supposed to be the first horde you take on. Before this one, you are supposed to just run away from hordes.
If you like killing hordes, carry on. But like the missions against the first time you meet further mutated freakers, they are difficult to kill. This 'first' horde is the same, it comes after you very quickly, and chases you much further, in greater numbers than any other horde.
You misunderstood, I think.
NERO have a tracker on that mutated freaker.
O'Brien tells Deek to get out, because they can see a horde approaching on infrared.
They know where Deek is, because he's got the tracker that was on that freaker. O'Brien told him to take it, so they could guide him out of the maze of cave/tunnels.
Feature Spoiler:
If you beat the game, all the hordes will appear on your map (as long as you have that part of the map uncovered, and any required jobs in the area completed)
If you complete the story line of the game
Actually, there is a known glitch that 1 horde will somehow not appear on the map. I've beaten the game - got 100% for the missions except horde killer, and got Level 3 trust with all the camps, and still the last horde icon won't appear.
I can't be arsed going through to see which horde I hadn't taken on yet. Maybe another time, but it's rather annoying.
You'll get it from this quite easily :)
If you look at the Horde Killer Storyline, it lists all the hordes that have been eliminated. Compare that to the hordes listed on the interactive map, or any wiki page.
One of the main difficulties in eliminating specific hordes is that they do not always sleep or hunt in the same spot. Often they will be somewhere between the 3-4 locations listed.
Another difficulty is that you do not get credit for completing the horde if there is one member still wandering the map. Sometimes they are glitched into a car, or a piece of scenery. More often they are just wandering the area.
Maybe set certain rules, i mean, just use certain weapons, not utilize some trap
So it can be fun and enjoyable momen again
