Dying light - I stop playing after beating the game once, about 80-90 hours of playtime
Horizon zero dawn - completed after 70 plus hours, and can't get myself to do fresh 2nd run (I tried)
Days gone - beaten the game in about 80 hours. Horde completion at 70% but maybe I stop playing soon.
and after that a new zone after a big plot twist.
No need to do mission for hot spring and copland once you reach iron mike.
Honestly, if you don't like the gameplay loop, stick to the main story missions (bright yellow triangles) ... If you like doing all the extra stuff, you can ignore the story missions.
Even rushing through the story, there's probably 15 - 20 hour game here.
I skipped Copeland missions. He's a piece of ♥♥♥♥ slaver. No interest in helping him. Do the Lost Lake missions and move on.
My best advice is to do what parts you enjoy. The game changes after you leave Iron Mike's camp. They wanted to build to an epic finale, but it kinda fizzled in some respects. I still played it to completion, as well as the bonus ending missions. I found the game well worth my $15 discounted purchase price.
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE :
* Side missions and random encounters get repetitive fast.
* There are still a few bugs that require you to look online for fixes.
* A lot of time is wasted chasing down collectibles and other achievements.
* They would keep adding new elements to game play (weapons, gear, and info) throughout the game. This resulted in gaining a lot of things long after their usefulness had been superseded by something you already had (this is especially true for the weapon you gain at the end by acquiring all the IPCA tech).
* My biggest issue was that there are some cut scenes that are impossible to skip. In some of them, you are REQUIRED to sloooooowly walk with someone as they talk about something and the game will stop if you lag behind the speaker and wait for you to catch up. Many of these scenes are pretty long.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE :
* The game is fun and there are several interesting plot twists.
* I found the acting and dialogue interesting.
* The animation is good.
* The mechanics of the game are easy to master, and fun.
* They do a great job (especially in the early game) of ramping up the tension and boosting the player's adrenaline during encounters.
* My overall feeling when the game was completed was positive.
MY SCORE :
85/100
I'm also feeling the drag of the game piling up. I'm almost at 100 hours, first playthrough .. My first 60 or so hours I was planning to 100% it, but, I don't think I can. At this point I just want to wrap it up and move on to the next game I plan to play. I might just rush through the story the rest of the way.
Yes. The game is repetitive. So is every game. The more you learn about a game, the easier it gets.
