It's consistently annoying, to the point of no more.
I only paid £13 for it and thankfully the 25 hours I've "played" were more than enough. On PC I have found it to be one of the most infuriating games i have ever played. I enjoy the mindless shooter as much as the next person but the stupidity of this one gets real tedious very quickly. I did a little research before starting so as not to handicap myself and I think the only review I read of the game summed it up perfectly. (PCGamer May 21) My main gripes; (probably not unique in a game of this age).

1. Exploring is so boring. You can only really be looking for Ammo and medicine or fuel for the bike. These are all blatantly obvious in location very quickly. If you find anything else it is inconsequential or useless or to advance the plot.

2. Randomly attacked by wolves/Bears/Sudden zombie hordes after spending hours sneaking around a camp knocking off Rippers, only to find yourself dump saved back in the middle of the same scenario with half the baddies now resurrected. When I say middle I also mean now in the centre of their camp so all you can do is run and try to survive. Happens often or if you are real lucky it will complete the quest and allow you to move on.

3. Repeatedly going to the same places for different story lines.

4. Advancement of character has seemed irrelevant with the choices made so far, the bike is the only obvious tool advanced when you invest in it but I found it became harder to control the more mods I added.

5. Don't get the quest line for the Nero part at all. So far they have all proved unreachable, is it based on powering up the bike to make jumps? Spent ages running back and forth trying to access these quests?

TLDR: If you paid around £13 or less then congrats. Anymore, sad face.

always remember to save before you walk away from your bike then you wont have that problem and as far as the rest goes it is what it is some of us me included love this game so much every other game i played or tried after is terrible compared to Days Gone...its a long story and takes time to develop do runs for tucker and copeland they have the best weapons and bike parts and i think exploring is awesome there are so many places im about to start my 5th full play through and each time i find stuff i wasnt aware of so its endless the only time is gets boring for me is when the game is over and im on day 1000 + and then there really is nothing left but random freakers...breakers...reachers..screamers and all the animals that wanna kill you and a few random people show up lol thats when i take my 50 bfg and go hunting do some long range shots on deer and bear or mountain lions its actually fun and yes to collect all the nero intel for the stun gun there are 5 or 6 jumps and you need the blue nitro hooked to the bike to make them then they are easy and yeah im on the pc version and it takes awhile to get used to steering the bike on the keyboard but after a few weeks or so you fly around like nothing bothers you lol and for the nitro to engage i had to pick a key <alt> i chose right below the wasd controls that worked best for me anyways hope this helps and goodluck

Just to cut down on what's already read :)

I agree with chigzilla.

There's loads of stuff to explore for. Even though it's a compressed Oregon, the views are fantastic. Just take your time, quite a lot of work went into the DG World, it's worth a look, IMHO :)

Random attacks are part of the game. And that wasn't a 'horde' of zombies, just a fairly large group who've been attracted to the noise. Keep your ears open and an eye on the mini-map. If it suddenly starts to go red, hide and go silent. Let the zombies kill the rippers (or whoever) for you, a lot of zombies will be killed too. Wait for the excitement to die down, then emerge and mop up whatever's left. I've killed a camp by leading a load of zombies into the camp. It wasn't planned, heading for the camp I got surprised by a large group, gunned the bike away, then slowed down to let then catch up, into the camp and gunned it away.

You start out with a junker bike. Improving the bike improves the speed and everything else, which makes it harder to handle. You'll adapt to it fairly quickly.

NERO, there are several research sites that require using the bike to jump a gap. The higher your speed, the easier the jump. Which means upgrading the bike. For at least 1 jump, maybe 2, you need the top engine plus maxed out nitro.

This is more of a smell the roses while your going shooter. The early game certainly doesn't give you a great deal of flexibility with most craftable items locked behind quests or progress. This obviously makes the value of craft items less in the early game, but believe me using traps and other equipment can be useful/entertaining when dealing with hordes/ambush camps.

I would suggest the challenges for a higher tempo experience if you want to get deep into the action asap. The only downside being, if you master these, the core game seem easy, even on the hardest difficulties.

Good guidance from the other two

My only issue with the game is that it's true that the world is boringly empty. I tried venturing off the beaten path a couple time in my first few hours and there was either nothing at all I couldnt find anywhere else or a anarchist cairn that serve no purpose but to get an achievement. Even the (?) event on the map are really repetitive and most of the time it will be all so you can get ambushed, lose precious ammo and healing, all to get a piece of cloth. Special mention to the time I found a crate with proxy mine in it and I used it to wreck a horde in my first hour, but that was the only time in like 60 hour.

If you avoid the (?) and only stick to what is shown on the map or at least the road you'll have a good time. I played on hard for my first time and I was getting wrecked by everything, every situation was very tense.

I tought the driving was really good and smooth. You just have to drift every single curve you encounter and that's it. Once the bike is upgraded it become more and more uncontrollable, but it's due to the fact that every bump on the road will make you go flying, but by that time you'll have enough experience under the belt to know the map and know the bike too.

Couldn't disagree more. One of the best games of it's type that I've played and absolutely LOVE the gameplay loop and story.
