Game not launching [SOLVED]
[SOLVED: It didn't work for me to go through all the following steps down below after the brackets. I was able to finally launch Days Gone not by taking separate measures, but by a combination of several:

"In Properties of the Game.exe: Compatibility, Windows 8, execute as Admin, Fullscreen optimisations off, DPI scaling override by application" - all these measures COMBINED finally did the trick for me!]

Days Gone will briefly check Steam cloud - it's actual - but then just does nothing and stops.

Eventlog gives no clues why.

I've tried so far:

-verify systems requirements: PC ist overkill (RTX 4090, Ryzen 7700X)

-antivirus and firewall autorisations : temporarily disabled

-Iatest Game Patch: it is up to date

-verify the integrity of game files: additional Redistributables up to date

-different resolutions

-Administrator mode

-fullscreen optimisation disabled: plus override high DPI scaling behavior

-latest versions of Win11Pro, .NET Framework, Visual C++

-reinstalled the game: new Download installed on SSD

-Steam start options: -windowed -noborder

-Bluetooth deactivated

-renamed 'movies' folder

-Steam start options DirectX11: -force-d3d11

-CRS folder (Third Party) deleted

-Windows compatibility mode: from Win8 to Vista

-Clean boot with every autostart app deactivated

-Steam cloud deactivated

I'm out of ideas. It just won't launch... what the heck is it trying to do after starting, and what does it find after checking the latest Steam Cloud, that makes it just stop?!

I've made a clean boot with every autostart app deactivated. Days Gone checks Steam cloud, cloud is up to date, but then it just stops.

This is insane - wtf does prevent this game from launching?!

might be a corrupted save, try disabling Steam Cloud

Not a corrupt save. I am having same issues (see other thread). Its not launching on my new PC, but working perfectly on my old PC.

It would be worth checking the integrity of your memory modules, even if they seem to be working well there may be a technical defect and even when they are new (I had that myself one day, but before DG). Also test your HDs or SSDs, some sectors may be corrupted and poorly read. Maybe it's something else but it's worth ruling out any possible cause...
For firewalls if you have several remember to check them all, same for the "game modes".

I also had problems starting the game. I saw the splash screens but after it while loading the main menu it crashed.

After some searching and many failed solutions i have found a weird solution... so i tried it and it worked for me.
Just open your webbrowser and start the game. Then select your browser so that window is focused and wait for the game to load. After a little while alt - tab to the game and i was in the main menu

New Build PC RTX3090 Ryzen 7950x 64gb ram So not a spec issue..
I get the sony entertainment logo then about 2-3 seconds of the next screen then crashes with a report.
Tried all the above "fixes" but still nothing

Any other ideas?

Installed on my other desktop and the exact same thing is happening. Both Win11

Hi Go2Matt,
Have you try Bacardi solution ?

The only solution that worked for me to stop the in game crashes was this.
Limit frame rates for the game in NVIDIA control panel.

Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings Tab > Find Days Gone
If you need the path then look in steam > right click game > properties > browse local files
Add the DaysGone.exe then select max frame rate and cap it at 60.
Mine was something like <Install Drive>SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Days Gone\BendGame\Binaries\Win64\DaysGone.exe

I have tried all the solutions posted on steam and reddit and this was the one that worked for me.

Hopefully this helps someone else who's been struggling to play the PS ports. It has been driving me crazy.

And have you tried updating your bios for TPM/Ryzen issues ?

Otherwise, make a partition on your disk with W10 (without necessarily activating it for the moment) to see if the game works. (with or without other fixes)

For audio problems :

Check that the right setting audio output/sound device is selected for the game in Windows. Open Windows settings > System > Sound > App volume & device preferences under Advanced sound options.

Some players have also had their in-game sound issue fixed by renaming the Movies folder.
To do it, refer to the corresponding section upper in my troubleshooting guide.

Interesseting. after win update it is not starting anymore. all this sucks.
Most of the time, steam games have such problems it is the sound.
But you cant change the ingame settings, cause the game wont launch. :-(
