If doesn't work you could try updating the controller software via the xbox accessories app from the microsoft store in windows.
Hopefully that helps
This sadly did not work for me, did you have any luck with it?
So I tried all the usual suggestions: Disable/Enable Steam Input, Ignore Controller in the game settings, as well as several others. None of that worked. Here's what the issue was:
I have a keyboard that has the ability to emulate a controller, specifically a Wooting 60HE. It has pressure sensitive keys. This allows me to make it so my WASD keys emulate a left thumbstick. This is useful in games like Deep Rock Galactic, because emulating a left thumbstick for my movement gives me more control when I am walking along ledges and stuff, trying to avoid fall damage.
Anyway, Steam recognizes them both, and the keyboard seems to be the "Primary" controller. There is no way to change that or disable it in Steam.
All I did was I just unplugged that keyboard when I went to launch Days Gone. Now my controller is immediately recognized by Days Gone, and it works perfectly.
My guess is that Days Gone just grabs the first controller that it sees, and if you are trying to use a different controller, then Days Gone will not acknowledge it.
Interesting little add on: Once the game is running, I can plug the keyboard back in, and everything continues to work fine!
Hope this helps!!
BROTHER you did figure it out, i tried EVERYTHING and was about to burst.. The issue is I use ReWASD to virtually emulate a controller so i can remap any button to literally anything imaginable to further complicate things. I read your post and figured YEAH RIGHT and i unplugged my keyboard and mouse and.. voilá, it worked!! THANKS MAN FR ONG NO CAP
