How to use log piles as traps?

I'm in the logging area from the trailer it seems and i wanna set traps on the log piles just like in the trailer. It doesn't seem to work, what am i doing wrong?

Objects like sensor bombs or grenades stuck to it will break the ropes of the orange log pile.

ahh so not just any log pile?

yes Only items with orange ropes can be destroyed by explosions.

ok thx, i know what you mean from the obstruction stuff but i never knew about looking for the same rope on log piles, now i can spend some time planning an exit strategy with traps better.
