This is not true. The game sold 18 Million Copies. The game was messy at launch and so all the 'professional' gaming critics scored it lower than it should have been. Sony decided because the critics didn't like it that they weren't going to green light the second one even though it sold well. One of the devs for the game quit the studio and has since been spilling the tea about this because he was pissed off about it.
Although this could be a good thing. The first Days Gone was already a great game in itself and personally I feel that a sequel would have a really hard time topping this game... And with "crunch culture" being so prevalent in game development now a sequel to Days Gone will likely turn out very poorly... So if you ask me we're probably better off not even getting a sequel because the second game would probably be very disappointing.
I'm grateful it even existed. The fact that Sony made a game worth playing, and then ported the exclusive to PC is a miracle in an of itself.
There was an article or some announcement by Sony stating they will be porting more of their Sony exclusives to PC, it'll be interesting to see what games they decide to port over.
That said, Sony did make it very clear they felt Days Gone was a relatively unsuccessful game and will not pursue making a sequel for this IP. So yes, I agree.
It's dead. Give it up.
Its dead and gone and even though apparently CDPR were interested in picking it up Sony does not even want to sell, they are a dumb company and have been for some time.
It's sad really, Bend studio really made a great game! They and the fans lose in the end. But this is a recipe we've seen before. Dev team breaks away from the huge corporation and makes their own IP. (fingers crossed)
