I got what you meant though. Are you still having trouble finding how to reach them? The ones that seems to be impossible to reach generally require you to leap to them with your bike using a nitro boost.

Here's an example:

If it feels impossible you might want to come back later after having bought parts for your bike that increase speed. Nitro boost is also a bike upgrade that you have to buy. I don't think those jumps are possible if your bike isn't upgraded, but the upgrades in Copeland's camp should be enough.

Nero research sites specifically are just locations with a Nero injector and one Nero recorder. Some are easy to access but others require you to jump to them from a ramp with a nitro boosted bike.

Unlike Nero Camps/Checkpoints. You don't need to go through the whole puzzle of disabling loudspeakers fueling the generator and possibly finding the fuse.

Some are isolated areas you must access with the bike, others are like a "puzzle" of sorts, a powered down research site you must reactivate. Reward is a nero injector to permanently boost your stats, and usually a recorded msg. For the research sites, you must first activate them by refueling the generator. A few may include fixing a circuit breaker.

Research sites also have a couple of loudspeakers around the area that will trigger once you restart the electricity. This will of course attract nearby freakers, hordes included (one of the earliest hordes is literally nesting close to one, forcing you to deal with them in order to shut the remaining loudspeaker).

So disable all loudspeakers when possible before activating the sites. Look carefully at the cable lines to spot where they are all located (some are intentionally hard to spot for ♥♥♥♥ n giggles).
