Can no longer pick up ears

so came across a nice annoying bug where i can no longer pick up ears, i've tired:

restarting game
checking file integrity
loading to a previous save
unplugging controller
selling everything i had which did help i was able to pick up 3 ears before the bug kicked in again
googling but haven't found anything useful

anyone else came across this bug ?

As far as I remember, you don't "pick" ears. They are automatically added to your inventory once you kill a freaker.

deacon is ment to auto pick the ears when you get close enough to a dead freaker if you werent already next to it when it hit the ground and it says "x ear added to inventory " which it isnt doing and the little Xs on the mini map are still there

I think thats true. I had all these ears to sell and had no idea where they came from because not once was I prompted to pick them up.

have you tried a new graphic card? the problem is most likely happening because you have a gtx 3080.

lots of people with gtx 3000 series cards have some weird ass problems like hdr disabled and black screens. bro are you telling me these people spent 1500$ for ray tracing just so they couldnt launch the game? my xbox 360 runs games better than that.

there's a maximum you can pick up, have you tried going to a Bounty store and selling what you have ?

You can only carry 999 ears at a time. I suppose you're dealing with the hordes?

Go back to a bounty store, sell your ears and fast travel again near your previous location. The ears you couldn't pick up will still be there and you'll be able to collect them.

Already got rid of everything then went back it will allow me to pick up another 3 ears before the bug kicks in again

I had a weird bug were I could sell ear's but I wouldn't get any trust gain. I had been ignoring the main story mission for so long. That the game sort of put a stop to what I was doing. To try and fix my problem I went ahead and did a main story mission and the problem was fixed. I could sell ears and gain trust again. Maybe it something like that for you, have you done a main story mission lately?

Have you used mods? For example "999ReserveAmmoNConsumables" ?

there is another mod to do with crafting x2 or x3 that screws it up and some recipe's aswell

Always the first question to ask and frankly nobody should have to ask because you should start out by stating if you do or do not use MODS.

I have a 3000 series card and have had next to no issues with this game

Only mod i used was a clothing mod no stats changing mods and which of course i disabled and did a fresh install of the game.

My problem is the game isn't keeping count for certain achievements. It shows I've collected 0/900+ ears for "Lend Me Your Ears." That and I've collected ears and killed plenty of enemies with crafted weapons. Shows 0/200 for crafted weapon kills. So the achievements are broken. Also in game problems. I cleared the nests in Marion and Deacon keeps saying he needs to come back and finish burning them when I leave the area. edit.. I meant to add that most of the problems with this game appear to be scripting type bugs on CPU, graphically it runs good and looks good. I have a 10600k i5 with a 2060 Super. 32Gb/8Gb (vid).
