open world? Is it though?
All the vids i've seen really show linear play. How open world is this game compared to other open world games?

It's open world in the same way that GTA is open world. You can do whatever you want and explore, but the missions themselves are mostly linear.

"but the missions themselves are mostly linear." goes for all open world games from what i have experienced.

Yeah, more or less. Some games let you sort of wander in and out of mission areas as you please, but Days Gone is a pretty bog standard open world game. I'm not sure why this question pops up so often in these forums, perhaps a marketing issue or something.

So it's 300 hours like Witcher 3 or less open?
space May 21, 2021 @ 11:16am
what? i played through witcher 3 three times and it took me less than 400 hours total.

is this a bait thread?

Oh, that's what you mean by "open world". Nah, it's not an RPG, it's an action-adventure game. I've got about 12 hours in, and I'd reckon I'm maybe a quarter of the way through, so probably more like 40-50 hours for a single playthrough, but it remains to be seen.

It's an action-adventure open-world game with some RPG elements. The missions are linear, as in most open-world games. There is a main quest, but there are many secondary missions and quests out there. You can also collect valuable info and collectables while going around and exploring.

It's 40 hours for the main story

It's not completely open, there are multiple regions that are story-gated, but once you unlock them you can travel between them at will.

Considering one may have to go around the long way because they can't jump a 3 foot fence or pile of rocks means it has limited open world capability.

Still, for the most part ignoring those type of situations, one can pretty much go where they want with exceptions noted above.
