Why is an SSD recommended?
Considering that last gen consoles had a 5400rpm storage, shouldn't this game be optimized for HDDs? Why is an SSD recommended even for minimum system requirements? This is something I don't understand

Clearly this PC version isn't optimised for HDDs. The graphics have been improved and thus the loading times will increase. So an SSD is the recommended drive to use.

The loading times on PS4 are glacial on a hard drive, I mean like nearly three minutes to get into a game.

It's being ported by the same people who did the HZD port. So expect the hardware needed to be at least double what the PS needed to match it.

The system requirements are EXACTLY the same as the HZD port. For real, pull them both up and compare. Both minimum and recommended is the same. With the only difference being additional notes say 'SSD needed'. The game runs on a different engine to HZD but requirements being the same, and the publisher also being listed as PlayStation Mobile. Virtuous Studios having a good relationship in assisting Sonys first party studios, it's very obvious. Just from the requirements alone.

Will a sata SSD be okay?

Improved graphics and textures require speed to load properly.

Also, loadings for this game take quite some time on PS4. That has been improved on the PS5.

So yeah, use a SSD. It's about time to retire your old HDD anyway.

Their streaming tech was already pushing the PS4 HDD to the breaking point. Makes sense they would recommend an SSD.

Because HDD's are so damn slow compared to SSD.

HDD's should only be used for storage and archiving. Not for loading games or software.

Why are people using HDD's on pc in 2021?

I got a high end SSD in July the MP 600 2TB (Write 4950 MB/S Read: 4250 MB/S). And wow!!! Pc is FLYING since then. It became faster than Sonic! To load on desktop it took 5 minutes with the HDD. With MP 600 less than 2 seconds. I play all games at max settings 1440p and even the msot demanding ones load in 1 or 2 seconds while on HDD some could take longer. And wile due to my ryzen 1700 and prime x370 pro it works on 3300 mb instead of 4950 mb which is its real speed the loading times almost gone. I should had got a SSD sooner. I also kept my two HDDS to not lose evtything that i had installed on them but stopped installing games and evryrhing else on them since i got the SSD. Now you can get it for 333 euros https://www.skroutz.gr/s/19385542/Corsair-Force-MP600-SSD-2TB-M-2-NVMe-CSSD-F2000GBMP600.html#specs Go and get it . A great buy! However even in games that started recomended ssd for max settings like Avengers i didnt notice any better graphics compared to those who dont.
