Spruce Lake Nero checkpoint - fuse bug
Spruce Lake Nero checkpoint is bugged. I can find the fuse and fix/start the generator, but the game will not allow me to insert the fuse in the panel on the wall. There's a "fix" icon, but I can't actually press a button (X on controller) to insert the fuse. There is no button prompt.

I've tried reloading and doing the sequence a few times and I can never insert the fuse in the wall panel :(

Fix pls!

you do have scrap to fix it? just making sure.

Lots of scrap. Fixing the generator isn't the issue, it's inserting the fuse that I've already collected into the panel on the wall.

what order are you doing things in? I don't know if there a order to doing the powering up of a nero site but I usually do the fuse first then the generator. There a real life reason for the way I do it.

I've tried doing it in both orders and it's still the same result.

You can use a fuse you found in one camp in another camp. Make sure you didn't do that. But there might be another bug too. In one of the camps on Highway 97 the map lead me to an empty fuse box that didn't actually have a fuse. Deacon reacted as if he had picked something relevant up, but the box was empty. Thankfully the fuse was in another spot.

Make sure you actually picked up the fuse. try to look around more to see if you might find a fuse from another spot.

Thanks for the suggestion, but everything is there. I have a save I can reload before entering the camp/checkpoint and I am definitely picking up the fuse inside this camp. It's in a box, right next to one of the white Nero trailers.

I can examine the panel, which starts the fuse hunt. Then go to the corpse and get the trail to the fuse box. I can pick up the fuse and return to the panel and it will not give me a button prompt to insert the fuse. It shows the spanner/screwdriver floating icon, but no button prompt to insert the fuse.

I've tried starting the generator before and after getting the fuse. I've tried turning the generator on/off... nothing works.

I've platinum'd this game on PS4. So I'm familiar with how the game works :)

Hi mate,
had the same problem and found a solution.

You have to proceed with the Spruce Lake checkpoint until you get to the point where you have to insert the fuse, but can't (at least that's what I did).
Then go to the Chemlute Community college checkpoint and proceed there until you can pick up the fuse (I assume that any other checkpoint with a fuse works too).
Then go back to Spruce Lake and insert the fuse. You can now access the NERO container and get the injector.
When you go back to Chemlute College now, it is as if you never picked up the fuse in the first place. You can proceed normally and pick up the fuse a second time to use it on the Chemlute checkpoint and get the injector there.
I would recommend to save first tho, you never know if it really works the same for you and me.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the hint. But I just skipped this Nero checkpoint and finished the game. It's still untouched in my current game. I should go back and check if the bug happens again. I probably can't do the Chemult trick (nice catch by the way) since I've done that one long ago now. I still want to clean out more post-game hordes, so I'll try to see if I can find a solution. Weird that such a bug is still in the game...

I tried Spruce Lake again, completely fresh from the start. Cleaned out the ambush camp and the horde - and the ******* fuse still doesn't work. It's like the fuse isn't added to your inventory when you pick it up. There's no prompt to insert the fuse into the wall panel. There's a floating icon indicating interactivity, but no actual prompt to insert the fuse.

I completed all the nero sites, didn't have a bug with any of them, the hardest one was the very southwest of the map in the third section since it was right next to a horde tunnel

It is so odd that some people have an issue and a bunch do not. Unfortunately the only thing I can recommend is maybe try a reinstall of the game (be sure to backup your saves). I would also say to be sure you are not using any mods just in case. I completed all Nero checkpoints with no issue but it is clear some people have an issue. One thing I did throughout the game was to make multiple MANUAL saves not just the quick saves. I do this because the game overwrites the autosaves too fast.

I see it all the time in every game I play, its very wierd indeed that many have same issues that I am not seeing, I don't have the sound issues, stutter issues, low performance in towns in camps that others are describing either it runs great on my setup

The game is also running pretty perfectly for me. No issues in 40+ hours, except this annoying fuse bug.

I finished everything in the PS4 version when it came out and I've really enjoyed the PC version. A bit odd that a bug like this is showing up for some people...
