Just finished and feel a bit let down....SPOILERS.
Not trolling, just don't have anyone to discus the game with as my friends avoided this game.

The game started out good and set up some interesting game play mechanics, and the story seemed to be going in interesting places. Which kept me going to see it through the end despite how much things started to drag and get ridiculously melodramatic. I thought maybe it will all tie together at the end but of course it didn't.

Were they intending to release DLC or a sequel because everything feels so unresolved. For example, it seemed like Sarah was going to potentially come up with a cure, but that went no where. Which would have been an interesting addition to the whole zombie genre. What's up with Nero? They set that up like there would be some big reveal but that really went no where.

Video games are just so frustrating because if you watch a TV series and they suck you in only to drop the ball that's 10 hours of your life gone. With a video games its like 50-100 hrs. I feel like stories have gotten worse in AAA games. I know they never were on the level of books, movies or TV shows, but they seemed to prioritize it a lot more in the past than they do now.

I thought O'Brien summed up the situation pretty accurately after he took his helmet off. Sarah already admitted defeat before they left the ark. I think what you are feeling reflects what anyone would feel if this was real. The end of the world as we know it really sucks and there's no happy ending for anyone.

Took his helmet off? I didn't see that. I have no outstanding missions. Did I miss something?

As far as Sarah, sure she failed but Decon said they were going to link with Nero and etc where she would have better equipment and they will never give up, etc etc. Which went no where.

No, this isn't like a Last Of US situation where it's intentionally leaving things unresolved as to leave us with the weight of Joel's decision. That was BRILLIANT. Definitively the best story in a video game ever. So it's not like I am looking for things to be wrapped up neatly and with a happy ending. It's the cheapness of how they wrapped things up which is the issue. They just threw on a hammy ending ignored all of the bigger ideas they seemed to be working towards.

Yep, when you 'finish' the game you can still go around and clear out hordes and bandit camps. After not too long O'Brien will radio you and ask you to meet and you get a little cut-scene. I hope this gives you some closure!

lol. Maybe I am not explaining myself well but it's not closure I wanted, but some sort of pay off to what they were building up to. Like how I used TLOU as an example of a story that didn't have any kind of "closure" but had a great pay off that made sense with where the story was going. It also thematically worked because they show us why this is "THE LAST OF US".

I am not putting more time into it. Hopefully I can find that on you tube.

EDIT: Okay I just watched it, and that just made what I was talking about worse. It's just a cheap WTF moment to tease a potential sequel that I don't think is happening. It feels very JJ Abrams like this whole game. Introduce a lot of mysteries and just keep postponing the answers because we have no idea where we are going with this.

I have just finished the story today, and to be honest, it was pretty much what I expected as the game drew to a close. As games go, it was fine for me, I have played much worse, so the fact that "certain" people survived, and "some" did not, was a fair ending. As you say, perhaps there will be some DLC, if there was I would probably buy it.

Friend, I can relate. After Deek and the game went south and I actually met the long-lost sarah everything felt bit off. Sarah turned out to be bit... underwhelming, wizzie island was too big and too soulless etc.

Up north the story felt tight and gripping but cloverdale was weird beyond all suspension of disbelief. How did the poor militia morons survive anyway? They hail Deekenator as a zombie-sage when he says weather affects the freaks - meaning they haven't notice it in 2 years. Cure the virus? Look sweetheart, hate to break it to you but those folks were mutated into sponge-brains, only mg-55 is going to cure that. It felt like a cheap way to give Sarah those oh-so-precious Good Person creds.

Could go on but in short, I felt as if Lost Lake was the real heart and soul of the game and then gas ran out. Nice game, just little too much soap.

Oh, one more thing. The original breakout occurred in an international conference - but it takes body fluid contact to spread...

It was okay, I actually like the secret ending its basically resident evil. The only character I really, really dislike was the general it felt like a cheap overuse stereotype. All around it felt like they did only half of the work and development of the story to be good.

I thought colonel was quite believable. There are some moments you can see the man he was before. Who knows what he lost. He was already crazy when you meet him and then he went ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy. If you listen to his daily sermons, he was getting worse everyday.

Game pretty much is about people subconsciously knowing the futility of it all, how pointless every day is, but still struggling to survive. There is a dialog that just in California alone there is 25M freaks, they are mutating rapidly and they are not going anywhere as they are omnivores. Cure is not happening either.

May be humanity will last for 10-20 years more, but eventually it will be over.

On the topic of finishing this game, I can't believe my wife is just sitting with Boozer on the porch while I'm out finishing up hordes. What were the devs thinking. Naturally I want my ol' lady on the back of my hog helping, but instead they turned me into a cuck.

Boozer should be back at the farm putting in work instead of moving in on my woman. And she should be cleaning that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a shack. Look at it. There's bottles everywhere. Pick something up already. Jesus.

what i am frustrated today with gaming .. the fakeism.
No melee wounds, no gunshot wounds, no blood or fake blood .. sometimes there is, most of the time, there isnt.
Fake blood is when you shoot or hit someone, there is splash of blood, but before it drops to the ground, its vaporized, like steam ..
I just bought the game, some visual effects are stunning, but this .. fighting an enemy, cutting his throat, shooting him in the head with shotgun .. and nothing ..
That goes for all gaming .. assassins creed .. you just stab and stab and .. nothing .. its even that bad, that the corpses have open eyes and are still following you ..

I love honesty, reality .. the joy for me is in the details .. if its lacks them, its trash for me and hard to play it.

When you kill a bike patrol they are on the ground in a nice puddle of blood. Breakers have part of the head shot off and bloody. using axe you can chop off limbs. Shotgun blast decapitates. NPCs stepping on mines lose legs.

Matthew Garrett was gay in disguise and got bombed by the death of his partner doc?
or is it just my sick imagination / bad motivation of the antagonist

Not quite sure what exactly you're looking for, to be honest. As Heretic points out, they tied up almost all of the loose ends, leaving just enough open for a sequel, which I doubt we'll ever see.

The only two things you specifically refer to, Sarah and NERO, do get resolved in the game.

I like the little touch of game design with a puppy. You bring it a dog toy. And it just plays with it. Boozer and Sarah are just siting like statues, though.

I agree with the OP, the game just felt disappointing when finished. He spends all this time looking for his wife after thinking she is dead and they don't even have any interactions after they assault Wizard mountain. Come to think of it I don't even think Boozer does, there are just more pointless clean out this area, rescue this person, fetch missions.
