[Spoiler] about the ending
I didn't remember much about the ending for a short while; but around the time when Empel said they have to give up Fi in order to seal the gate;
did he also state that Ryza will not only lose the memories and dreams of the ruins, but also lose the ability to perform alchemy as well? or was it only the former?

asking this since i remember he mentioned something about alchemy but can't recall lot of stuff

Ryza would lose the "new powers" she gained, which I believe are the visions and other ruin-exploration related things. But, obviously, unless (until, hopefully) we get a sequel, this is a theory.
I don't remember anything about her memories being lost or her ability to perform alchemy (though maybe some alchemy related skills?).

Ryza won't lose her memories, just all the abilities she got with Fi. The new alchemy abilities she would lose would be the stuff unlocked in the skill tree after Fi absorbed more mana from those stones. I forget what the skills were but I'm guessing it's all the new alchemy mechanics in 2 regarding the essences. Also all the abilities to interact with the memories which is never really explained on how she's able to in the first place anyway. If you read all the clues in the dungeons you find out that the ancient civilizations used the same kind of creature Fi is to boost their own powers so losing Fi makes sense.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, but does anyone know whether the 'Ethereal Dragon' that keep showing up in the ruin memory was talking about Fi or something else entirely?

It was never clarified to the best I remember, but didn't that dragon have two heads or something like that?

The ethereal dragon was a fake dragon made by the "magicians" in the valley I think. I was kind of disappointed there was never a real lore recap of each dungeon, one day I'll go back and read them all and try to piece it all together better.
what carried over to ng+ ?

money (cole and gold coins), equipped equipment (including core items, but they won't be available until core items are unlocked and they also won't be equipped), shop development. you don't keep the gathering equipment or adventuring items.
so i should sell all my materials before starting NG+ ?

but man, spamming the A button to sell 943554683 items in my container is going to be a pain.

you can, i guess, but what on earth do you need money for. save yourself the trouble and sort them by value and only sell the expensive things.

it's not about money i was talking about the shop rank, having some high rank items at the shop is good for a ng+ run

fair. not sure if you knew, but you can sort stuff by XP as well, and if you rebuild the item for higher level, it gives more xp.

I assumed it meant stuff like building instant root bridges from planting a seed or making the ruins function again.

Ethereal dragon was a name given to the mana flow in Dragonbone Valley otherwise known as Hidden Valley by ancient mages that lived there. You can read lore recaps of each place after completing the puzzle, and not just the "cards", but a summary of the whole place and each memory.

The mana flow isn't just in Dragonbone Valley, but through all of the ruins. Dragonbone Valley is particularly significant due to being at one of the two 'heads' of the dragon and having the Cold Moon Vessel, which sustains the Vortex of mana that was created by offering up the Flame Sun Crystal from the ancient Mana Workshop.

"The treasure of the Workshop was left as an offering deep in the forest. The ruin of the Workshop was the price paid to seal the demons."
"The Flame Sun created a vortex of mana, and the Frozen Moon made that vortex eternal. The barrier created by these two stars is what blocked the flow of demons from the Underworld."

The mana flow is sustained by giant fairystone crystals produced by the ancient mana workshop that are found in all the ruins. The very same crystals that you let Fi drain all willy-nilly, causing the barrier to fail.

"The Ethereal Dragon devours demons. To gain its aid, you will have to gather Fairystones as an offering. However, since the dragon prefers giant Fairystones, they will not be easy to find on the surface."

"The Workshop's furnace was used to melt and blend Fairystones to create bigger ones. If the records are correct, these huge Fairystones were used as offerings to the Ethereal Dragon. These ancient people may have also used their crystal blades to gather Fairystones from the encroaching demons, as a way to gather additional resources."
