If not, then what do your builds look like? Did you run general invites?
Example: two books from the first row of SotC brings in the Night Awls -> their leader, Allen, is pretty amazing. Give him Wedge + Fervor and he'll have +4 power to all pierce dice. This is really strong.
Note: Do not run "Feint" on Allen.
If you're looking for more builds, feel free to ask for them here or check out my guides. I do take a bit of a funny path through SotC, but you should still be able to find some builds to use.
I have done the general receptions, other than the 3 book one, My leading block dice do NOT counter anything, even with liquified flesh. Im rolling lower than what it says on my card without any form of ailments. A good build would be VERY helpful here. :)
If the attack rolls a 10 and the block dice rolls a 5 -> you take 5 less damage.
What key pages do you have? And what receptions have you done?
You said you've done the general receptions, so do you have Dong-hwan and Allen?
If so, then Allen with Wedge and Fervor passives is a great idea. The last two passive points can be whatever you want - maybe a hauler?
So, passives aside, the combat pages will be singleton:
Frontal Assault, Gap Attack, Extract Fuel, Dagger Press, Shoving Stab (good against Burning Flash), Will of the Prescript, Prod the Weakness, Mend Weapon and Sturdy Defense.
If you've already done PT, then you can swap over to Laceration and Venomous Fangs.
If you've done the second set of general invites, then replace Mend Weapon with Wedging Thorn.
If you've done the second set of general invites, go for a smoke build with Yae. The most important passive to give to Yae is "Sooty Thwack." As for the other 8 points, you can run both of Emma's passives: Lion's Fist and High-level Acrobatics.
As for combat pages, you can go singleton, but I didn't:
1x Smoking Pipe, 3x Smoke Blow, 1x Smoke Prick, 3x Deep Drag and Exhale Smoke. (You can swap a Deep Drag out for Repressed Flesh if you want.)
Got Kalo? Thumb's ranged pages that exhaust ammo -> count as discard.
Passives: Bottom Deal, Stacking the Deck, Additional Supplies, Best Choice and Mind Hauler.
Yes, 9/10, but that's okay.
1x Switcheroo (your only 0-cost, if it gets discarded, it doesn't give power, but a free draw), 2x Class and Respect (or any 1-cost light restore), 2x Reload, 1x Bayonet Combat, 2x Shock Round and 1x Focus Fire.
Note: your max hand size is effectively 8. Don't waste a turn waiting to draw Shock Round or something -> fire your ammo.
Dong-hwan: how about a singular strike build? Some Anti-Burning Flash tactics going on here.
Passives: Keeping in Stride, Singular Strike, and Sayo's Battle Ready and Dark Cloud Blade.
Draw of the Sword x2, Class and Respect x2, Shoving Stab x3, 2x Moulinet.
and uhhhhh.... have you done R Corp? Nikolai:
2x Graze the Grass, 2x Leap, 1x Energy Conversion, 1x Golden Opportunity (or Quick Suppression), 1x Absorb Impact, and 2x Battle Ready
Passives: Energy Discharge, Charged Shield, Battle Ready and Skim Prescript.
That's 5 builds.
Honestly, I recommend just looking at my SotC guide, depending on where you are. I have full pictures of the builds and stuff.
Can you link the guide?
Right now i finished the index proxies fight, the liu association 2 fight right before the Xiao bossfight, i havent cleared the first R corp fight yet. Ive done Allen, and the Night awls. I have ALL the pages from the receptions ive listed.

Distorted Blade is perhaps THE most RNG in Star of the City. If it rolls an around a 20, everyone can beat it, but if it rolls around a 30, then it's hard for most people to beat it.
There really isn't too much for me to recommend beyond
1) if you think you'll lose against a mass attack, leave the speed dice empty
also you don't need to aim back at a mass attack,
2) "just keep at it"
Fun fact: back in early access, Yan used to be so easy that people were complaining. He got a general buff to get to where he is. Example: Distorted Blade's max used to be 25.
So, im now on impuritas civitatis, ive finished all the realizations and im using your guide for deckbuilding, and i have a question, how do you have so many bayard office fixer pages? im at the max for it and i cant put offensive position on most of the pages the guide says.
I was concerned with limits when I was making certain builds - since I intended to use them.
You don't need to make aaaaaallllllllll those builds, but I just put them together anyway just in case people wanted to use those key pages.
Personally, in all my time playing the game, I never properly used Speed 1 key pages after we start getting Speed 3 key pages, except Rudolf and Nemo (also, Kim, but he's UN, not SotC), and also for that one cheese where Maxim is used.
I've been thinking about going back to update certain parts of my guides, especially this detail covering Offensive Position's overuse, but I just never got around to it.
Okay, then who should prioritize having offensive position?
You can go in, look at the pre-battle screen for a fight, then back out -> do builds and stuff.
