The only exception for the reward reset is the equipment; you can only have as many of them as you get the first time. So you can have 99 copies of the same card, but not 99 copies of the Rats' equipment, for example.
The rarity means very little outside of the amount of that card you can get before needing to reset its book's rewards. The only other thing worth mentioning about rarity is orange cards, as typically orange cards are exclusive to the characters they belong to. For example, if one of the Rats had an orange card, you could only use that card while your librarians had their equipment.
Also typically makes it so you're guaranteed to get all of the rewards from books with a lot of cards after burning 3~4 copies of that book.
