In order to backup your saves you have to go to:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\LocalLow
In here you will find a folder named "Project Moon", which inside of it has the Library of Ruina save. You want to copy the Project Moon folder and paste it there or somewhere else, then rename it (for example I use Project Moon - LOR - BACKUP 20210312) as the name of the folder to know when I backed it up. If you want to restore a save you simply have to delete the Project Moon folder and paste back your backup and delete the extra things in its name.
Regarding the initial problem, make sure to check you have permissions to write data in that directory, other than that I have no real idea as to why it might be happening.
I already beat the Ensemble , after checking out their keypages I decided to open up the reception again. Then I forfeited it because I was going to play later on.
For some reason the game keeps loading me back into the reception every time I load my save. I have a feeling this is the same issue as OP's
It might be better to hold off on playing till PM implements some fixes.
Just so you know I copied the save, deleted the original and pasted the copy and that did the trick, now its mostly saving properly.
That's really nice to hear, enjoy the game!
