Unironically, it runs poorly. It is still functional, but you gotta be aware of some things that will pop up. I don't know all of them, but I do know that:
1) the game has added loading times before and after every reception
2) no screen transitions - be ready for LOUD Roland jump scare
3) Loud? Yeah, loud. The audio isn't properly made so some characters are quiet and you can't hear them - like Netzach - and others are really loud - like Roland.
4) Some weird bugs, like the first cutscene for Netzach's floor opening up -> just not playing whatsoever. You gotta go to the credenza to see it.
This list is not exhaustive and I'd like to note that I dunno if any of these got fixed/patched.
Again, it technically works. It is technically playable.
Note: I know you said you just want to play it on the go -> but just in case, if you just wanna hear the JP dub, someone made a mod for that on the steam workshop (and it has all the aforementioned audio issues).
why am i not surprised, at this point im hoping steam deck kills the switch if nintendo doesnt genuinely compete just because they have a few IP's
If anyone successfully sues a video game company for anti-consumer practices, especially hostages (read: "exclusives") -> Nintendo will probably die as they'll end up either:
1) be forced, since they're required, to release their hostages on other consoles
or 2) simply stopping all sales of their games in the countries/regions that force that to happen, drastically killing their profits
Lose-lose situation for Nintendo if that ever happens.
Nintendo isn't any sort of "good guy" but nostalgia is so strong that there are grown-ups who will defend Nintendo from anything, including this very comment.
Meanwhile, Nintendo will threaten legal action if you talk about how much you love their party game and want to host a tournament for it (see: #FreeSmash or whatever).
On the other side of this, inFamous and Bloodborne will be released on Steam because Sony, who is also not any sort of "good guy" will have to deal with it.
