-Consider completing the Star of the City branch entirely before re-attempting this. You'll need the power from those key pages for the best odds.
-Setup the best team possible. For me this was: Binah (with The Strongest + Myo's Prowess), and x4 librarians with strong setups focusing on +1 or +2 Power, and R-suit to hold 20 Charge.
(Bringing Nikolai is highly recommended for the Mark she inflicts and the +1 power she gives everyone.)
-My deck 's light regeneration & draw power tactic was this: x1 Multi-Slash, x1 Energy Cycle, x1 Graze the Grass, x1 Energy Conversion, and x1 Will of the Prescript. This, with some damage thrown into it is a fantastic light-regenerator and card-draw when you reach the final phase.
(Since one of it's phases nullifies power-gain, consider putting in Yan's card that powers itself down but has big base rolls.)
-I think you can rush down some phases like Judgement Bird and maybe Punishing Bird (once it's vulnerable), get them staggered fast and kill em off fast.
-If you bring a Smoke-inflicting card or two, that can further greatly enhance damage done in the final phase. (Just think about it, Smoke can go up to 10 to become +50% damage, which then becomes +100% damage with Nikolai's mark.)
-There's lately also been new Star of the City General Receptions, those might be worth a look too now or later when you need the resources to deal with a certain event. Mix & Match some 1 to 3 SotC books and see what you get.
I will definitely note all theses down, especially the new SotC General Reception, they might have something that I need, but for now I need a break from this.
good luck.
As for the OP, this realization was the hardest fight in the enitre game for me (took me 7+ tries the first time) until I learned to beat it first try in my second playthrough. I brought decks that doesn't care about light at all (ex.
Rapid Gashes Yujin and Overcharge Purple Tear).
Nikolai's mark IMO is a must have for this fight since the damage amplification helps you to deal with Apocalypse Bird's insane amount of health. The bonus strength and endurance are nice but not really needed.
Binah can deal with the counter dice from Apocalypse Bird. Also try to complete the first Impurity battle to get the passives and equip Four Trigrams on Binah to help her regenerate Light since her own Light regen is kinda weak. I also brought Yan as a support, mainly for Binah but he can support other people as well. The Distortion Blade is also a nice thing to have for this realization as you can deal with the other birds quite easily as well.
Hope this helps.
well, here I come WhiteNight...
well, prepare for a surprise if you tried that fight. good luck and have fun on that fight, it is one of the coolest fight in the game for me personally.
Thanks for starting this thread. I also got mercilessly beat by Bird Exodia 6 times in a row... Overcharge Purple Tear and Yujin Gashes really are something.
1x Sword of Volition
1x Multi-Party Compensation (her unique card)
3x Clone
3x Brace Up
1x Switcheroo
Basically you clone her Multi-Party Compensation and then eventually she's just bathing your team in light every turn. This solves one of the biggest issues with the fight.
Also make sure you bring cards that are great for countering mass attacks. Sturdy Defense is awesome for this.
Good luck! It takes a few tries.
