That aside, I do like this theory a lot. Geburah not meeting Roland out on the field also serves to hint at the possibility that Roland is more than he seems. Geburah also believing that Roland has an alternate purpose for coming to the library is also hinting at something greater as well.
To add onto your theory, I think there's a high chance that Purple Tear is the dimensional traveler buddy Roland mentioned he had, and he struck a deal with him/her in order to accomplish something in exchange for helping Angela with the library (maybe the resurrection of his wife?)
I also do find it suspicious that, unlike the time with the Red Mist and the Blue Reverb, Roland doesn't talk about the Black Silence at all.
yeah i agree with that but i mean in a world with some crazy stuff maybe a plastic surgery could solve that? i dont know but thats a good point
-I see Roland as the Black Midnight, an information-oriented fixer who analyzes the situation and finds weaknesses in his enemies. It's why he can worm his way into other people's situations and pasts so easily, and why the Musicians specifically mentioned the Pianist's hands being cut off. He saw the effects and cause and acted accordingly to defeat the threat.
-His wife was most likely the fixer who was torn apart so "beautifully". It was most likely because of her power as a fixer, as well as the fact there were two lives being torn apart into notes.
-He fell to nothing, lost all his equipment and possibly modifications, after probably starting to suck at his job if he even tried. Who wouldn't after seeing the ones you loved in this horrible world be so terribly torn apart? So now he's in a melancholic depression, forced into a new job out of the blue by an old colleague, another manipulation in the web.
Long ago in tumblr back when the Movie Frozen was released, there was a post of someone who comented on how the movie was based in the Ice Queen, but didnt have a Mirror that was important to the story. Only after a while realize that Hans, the villain, was himself the mirror, in every scene he was interacting with someone, he reflected how the other was acting, or reinforcing how they felt at the moment.
While watching Roland interactions with the Sephirah, I notice he doesnt really act consistent with each one, he act different with every one, at first you shrug it off like he simply adapts, but as the Floors have been realize I see in every new scene he act more and more like that particular Sephirah, or reinforce how they see themself (or how they want to be).
Those who remember the abno card pre-abno battle will remember that 2 of the Abnos we saw in those cards in Keter were The Ice Queen, and you guessed it, the Mirror of Adjustement.
While Keter is mostly Carmen/Angela's floor, I think it also represents Roland as he is now it's Patron Librarian.
From Pinnochio's Cards.
"All the child could do was 'learn' by observing others and mimicking their behavior. And that was the problem."
"People lie all the time. Why is that a bad thing?"
"They said it wasn't for themselves. They were lying for the good of everyone…"
- Roland can be a spin or a saboteur who will have to stop or interfere with Angela at a crucial moment. Perhaps someone wants to use her actions for their own purposes.
- If Roland is really a stranger, then this explains his getting into the library, perhaps he was thrown there on purpose. This means that behind his actions is someone who has enormous power and a lot of power.
- There is also a possibility that he was teleported to the library by someone like "Head" to study the phenomenon of distortion. I think it is difficult to deny the connection in the simultaneous appearance of the library, the disappearance of the corporation "L" and the appearance of distortions and anomalies.
- The latest theory is that Roland may be a specialist in infiltration and adaptation, there is a possibility that he could be blackmailed or kept on a leash against his will. That is, he may be an innocent fixer who was attracted to this robot without his consent. Perhaps there could be a turning point in the finale and Roland will come over to our side. Also, this theory can be combined with all of the above.
At the very beginning of the game, Angela threatened to "turn him into a book and find out everything herself", but then she gave up this idea. Perhaps Roland is an instilled individual pursuing his own goals, or perhaps he is our worst enemy. The main "hotbed of doubt" that haunts me is precisely the same scene from the trailer described above. Maybe she doesn't mean anything?
Turning Library into hamham pangpang branch facility
To that extent, its not suprising the library could perhaps forcefully "invite" someone like Ronald to perhaps be Angela's emotional crutch/support, and act as guide to the city's many quirks.
That or its more of Ayin's machinations/plans and possibly a reincarnation or disguise, who knows? Friggin' magic, after all.
