GRAPHICS_DEVICE_REMOVED Error after some Matches
In some matches I get the error message "GRAPHICS_DEVICE_REMOVED: The GPU is not responding to any more commands. This is probably because an invalid command was passed by the calling application." These usually appear at the end of the match, such as just now after the end of the show case match between Eddie and Rey Mysterio at Halloween Havoc. Is there a fix for this?

I think I have fixed this error. I haven't stress-tested the game thoroughly, but after the fix, I have been able to complete 30-man royal rumbles without any error. The fix comes from this Reddit thread.
According to the comment by TheWhaler95, he was able to get around the error by using a directx12 to Vulkan wrapper.
So copy the following 2 files into your WWE 2k22 directory.
First, extract and copy d3d12.dll from the vkd3d-proton release[github.com]
Then extract and copy dxgi.dll from dxvk release dxvk release[github.com]

Obviously, I can't guarantee it, but this might fix the issue for you guys.

Edit: I have been able to play all the showcase matches and a lot of multi-man matches after this without a single crash without resorting to compromises like playing on windowed mode or using decreasing graphics settings (this is on a gtx 970 and i5 ). Haven't tried Universe mode or Myrise yet.

The correct DLL files that work are from the vkd3d-proton release and the dxvk release. These are available on Github at the following link:

For the VKD3D .tar.zst file you need 7-Zip (https://www.7-zip.org) plus the Modern7zip plugin (https://www.tc4shell.com/en/7zip/modern7z/) to unzip it.

Thank you so much to both of you geniuses! This has fixed all crashing issues for me and any time the game hitches for a second like it is going to crash, it doesn't now! I can finally run this game as it was meant to be.

Put the Texture Quality on the lowest possible setting and see if it crashes. The higher settings probably require 5+ gigs at least.

Also, just because the game starts off running at a solid frame rate doesn't mean you're not still running out of VRAM eventually. Because your game is running for a while and then crashes, this is the symptom of 'not enough VRAM'.

Indeed, sir. I too have the GTX 970 and this error just started hitting me. I run the game with medium settings applied to my shader and shadow and play it in full screen mode. I know the 970 isn't the minimum required graphics card, less than actually, but this thing is a beast and I hope I don't have to spend an inflated amount of cash to buy a newer card, it'd make me and my cat sad, very, very sad...

No idea why citations aren't working Crafty but i have an i5 8600k and an MSI GTX 980ti 6GB, These aren't the strongest things on the market by any stretch but i don't see how these should have problems playing this game.

I benchmark 180-190fps on this game, the hardware is sufficient enough.
Yet it either just crashes or i get the same error message OP gets.

Something just ain't right here.

Is everyone with the issue on NVIDIA, and which drivers are you using?

Checking back through previous mentions, it may be the graphics card needs a driver update, either by you to the latest (or rolling back to the previous one to see if it helps), or NVIDIA to release the next one.

Has anyone contacted NVIDIA support by any chance?

Glad to know it isn't only happening to me, been unable to play the game at a consistent rate due to the random crashes. I'm using a GTX 970 as well, with all drivers updated.

Tried everything I could possibly do to lower the load on my GPU such as setting everything to the lowest possible setting, turning off shadows, lowering my resolution, etc. and still nothing. Shame since I'm having an absolute blast with the game when it works.

Any chance of this getting fixed by the official release date? I've looked through threads of previous WWE2K games and this seems to have happened before.

I have since contacted support via. Twitter, via Reddit, via Support Ticket and in the Official Forum, I hope they will take care of it.

Hell dude, I too have a GTX 970. How in the hell could you play it with ultra settings? Initially mine were set to high and the game ran in slow motion. Share with me the secrets... share them damnit!

That depends on the resolution, in 1080p the textures of the wrestlers are only on "standard", everything higher (from 2K to 4K) the textures are on high and the 970 definitely doesn't manage that. That's why I also play on 1080p so that it doesn't run on complete slow motion FPS.

Same here with a gtx 970, many trouble with caws, when i play with my caw, crash, when IA play with vanilla superstars it's ok

I play on 1440p and it still says Standard, not HIGH. Using 980 ti.

I finally got an answer from 2K support, they think that my hardware is too bad, amusing is that this error also occurs with RTX 3070 graphics cards, this should definitely not be "too weak"...
I think 2K itself is not sure where the error lies?

I appreciate you providing your PC Specs. Unfortunately, your GPU is actually below the minimum system requirements for the game. The error is happening due to that issue.
