SteamVR is set to use the headset for audio output and all other VR applications I've tried work correctly.
That could definitely be one way to make it happen. For me it seems to break if I remove my headset during the Cyan logo animation while the game starts. I usually use that time to adjust the position.
It has happened on many Steam games with Quest 3.
This discussion has some tips to try for a fix:

1. During in game, use the pc mouse and simply left click on the game screen, audio will return
2. during ingame, open up VR Dashboard and click on the desktop and use your controller and point at the screen as well as clicking the trigger. your audio will return.
these work if you have your audio settings correct. It's just a focusing issue with steamVR. Not an issue with Cyan.
