You can shutdown lights that are not needed to conserve power and reach out a bit farther.
Slowly build up try to get cloning up ASAP, and Research. Then slowly expand.
Some building can fit together with out tunnels to compact space.
Try to get buildings in groups, because at some point they will want recreation, which has to be built by the work places.
If you're going to spend 1 steel on a power line spend 1 steel even if it goes over, never know you might be able to fit another building there or extend the line. Spending 1 steel on a half line just to find out you have to make it a bit longer blows.
More to come, I know these are common sense but you never know someone might be helped. Feel free to add to this list and I might condense it into the top post.
If something isn't powering up and it is connected to power, check the power grid.
Click on the power display in upper right screen and it will show you the different power grids.
Check the grid the building that isn't powering up on to make sure there is enough power.
The one right next to the base is very annoying and ruining my build layout...
Use the overlay to check your grids to make sure they're supplying enough oxygen.
If you remove a cage from a habitat that has 0 fish it will be depleted. Make sure you restock a habitat if you're going to change it out.
If you place a generator or food building on a habitat, no matter what when you remove it it will be depleted. Make sure you want to use that habitat for those items, like an extra habitat that is the same and you do not need it.
The game says you need Docks for Outposts. This isn't true, you can build them and connect them with tunnels. They are a *GREAT* tool for helping out with expansion as they supply 4 air and 4 power each. That doesn't seem like much, but this is power generated without costing you coal, and oxygen provided without requiring an Oxygen Generator. Expensive as they are, when you are able to place them do it.
Also, make sure you have two Research labs before hitting day 14. You *will* be glad you have the research piling in as you go, especially if you can put the Additive Attachment on both before day 20.
Awesome great news, ty
So which research attachment is better? +8 flat or 1.2 multiplier?
I'm guessing flat, but maybe I'm wrong?
@devs And what is the point of having 2 attachments, when you can use only one? seems excessive and just confusing the players.
