DEATHLOOP

DEATHLOOP

(Possible) Proof Deathloop is NOT set in the Dishonored universe.
So I found this text on the back of one of the ingame bottles.
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1639864405647296905/DEB7A8E511E9ED1F492C8B971A901405DF29BB1B/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

If you look closely, you can see a date, possibly the "best before:" date, which shows the month "sept." - so, September - if this isn't just a mistake (as they have previously done, I think?), than this would prove that Deathloop is another universe, given the different calendar months.

Who said it was in the same universe to begin with?

The powers feel a lot like the ones given by the Outsider, and trinkets like bone charms.

And the time loop itself is similar to the DOTO anomalies and the stuff mentioned in the books

There was apparently some sort of early leak, also the oil-powered pistols with the dishonored 1 model

The ending has the "antique" guns which are from Dishonored, whale oil is mentioned
The metal doors used to mention Tyvia which is a region in Dishonored. (this was patched)
the Drunken Whaler song can be heard in a bunker which is from Dishonored.

Sounds more like eastereggs to me. And the door was most like a re-used asset and the name was overlooked. That's why it was patched.
There are also plenty of Doom references. Doesn't mean that it's set in the same universe. Story and lore wise there's absolutely no connection to Dishonored.

I mean, it's not a 100% certainty, which is why people are gathering evidence for and against it, like this post. At some point in design it was apparently intended to be in the Dishonored universe and nobody has ever gotten a solid yes or no out of the developer so it's interesting to consider.

Lots of things are easter egg-y, but the dueling pistols which are "oil cartridges" really does seem too significant to be some easteregg

People have changed a huge number of calendars and chronicles, so this is no proof, I'm sure that the games are somehow connected, if it's not one universe, then parallel worlds that you can get into from the Void.

A thing that may disprove that is the motherland spray that's on the left wall of the spy outpost in Fristad Rock which is another name for what the kingdom at the end of Dishonored 2 was referred as. Then ofc the Dueling Pistols being a 1:1 to the exact Dishonored Pistols is another given.

I'd guess they were just reusing/modifying assets of dishonored. The "block door" thingies do also look pretty similar to the ones in dishonored. This would allow them to make progress faster and reduce costs. As a result, there might be things in there which do have a reference to dishonored (because they've missed a tiny detail). The bottle might have just been used in it for example. It also doesn't make sense to recreate everything from scratch if existing assets are fine and generic (e.g. the bottle).

This. Re-using assets + easter eggs are great ways to create the false illusion of familiarity.

The only way to say "it's in the same universe" would be the game activly mentioning it at one point. So as long as we don't get that specific information, right from the game itself, it's all speculation that it's the same universe (not to be mixed up with "speculating it's not the same universe").
