fs-base-0.1.61.fspackage decompression issue!
I bought this game yesterday and started installing it. I noticed around 2:30 that for the past 3 and a half hours it had been stuck on this package, on .004. I decided to remove what it had downloaded and start over after doing some reading on google, and I left it over night to download.

It is now stuck on this same package, but it didn't make it past .002. Also, since it downloads while the game itself is running, I have been playing the game now for 20 hours! Does anyone know how I can fix this? Because I doubt I will be getting a refund...

If you go to where the game is downloading the package files, do this:
1. Close the game.
2. Delete the package files related to the one it's stuck on (for example fs-base-0.1.61.fspackage and fs-base-0.1.61.fspackage002-006)
3. Restart the game and it will decompress the remaining files and redownload the one you deleted (hopefully properly this time)

I have tried multiple times and it keeps downloading it wrong. But considering people have installed the game, I can only assume it will eventually get it right.

I can't mark my own comment as an answer, can the next person to read this copy/paste it? Thank you!

For anyone who is trying to help, I think I just found the problem but idk what to do about it. It didn't download an actual base package file for this. I have 002 - 006 but there is no actual original file... Why is this download system so bad, and is there an alternative?
Very bad installer from MS

I had the same problem and for me it was a different fix: I was trying to install to an external hard drive connected through fireware. I just had to switch the install location to an internal hard drive and everything worked fine on the first try.
I had this problem for three weeks. Here is how I solve it. Create a new folder with a different name and re-install the game. That's how it works for me. The Installation Manager is bad and doesn't work well with Wi-Fi connection. But like I said, create a new folder and re-install the game.

That's what I was doing originally, have you tried the fix I marked as the answer? Instead of reinstalling the whole game, If you delete the corrupted package and parts then let them re-download, that also works. But you have to delete every part of the package.

Deep,

I did that too and it re-downloaded the File-base correctly. Its frustrating but it works.
What do you mean by create new file, but where?.

In my steam file, or anywhere inside my drive

They are basically saying to choose another location to install the ingame download. Only do that if deleting the offending package(s) doesn't work though. No point downloading everything again if you can get away with only downloading part.
how do i change where to install the ingame download
You don't even need to restart, just delete stuck file
