How to set waypoints?
I cant really find my way round the flightplaning yet...
If I want to fly VFR from A to B and want to mark out som places with waypoints...,
how do you do that?

There seems to be .., no flight planner?

typically you would do it inside the FMC/GPS of the plane you are in. Requires a bit of learning to do so if you want to do it mid flight.

I was more thinking in the way of preflight flightplanner.., like in FSX

Wow thats a bummer:(
No waypoints and no replay.., two things very importen to me thats missing.

works for me, (at least for in game POI's)
on the world map, choose your take-off and destination.
then you can click on POI's and choose "ADD" and it will adjust your flight plan / route accordingly.

Oh sorry POI - point of interest :)

And yes that I can do too, but I would like to make my own waypoints.
I quess the big pattern squares makes lining up the landing easy enough...

POI = Points of Interest
landmarks, cities stuff like that...
Yes, as Burn explained, you can set your own custom waypoints and fly a VFR flight from the menu before flying.

It does work on the world map screen before you load into the game... simply left click anywhere on the map that isn't already a POI, at any point in making your flight plan, and it allows you to add your own way point... you can use custom locations as departure, arrival, or just a way point while making a flight plan from here.

I agree, there is a shortage of POI in the game. I use google satellite maps and pick out the locations I want to fly over, then snip it into Excel and use line shapes and right-angle trigonometry to calculate bearings / distance for each of my waypoints. In the game I just plan my departure and arrival waypoints, and manually set a heading for my autopilot, then VFR navigate / adjust heading as required en-route.

Using coastal / large terrain features can also help keep you on track. It's not perfect, but I am broadly successful in getting where I want to and having fun. Hope that helps!

A good tip. I struggle with this though, as the world map seems very foggy and indistinct, and it can be hard to pick out locations that aren't already marked as POI. Is there a way to sharpen up the zoomed in world map?

I wish there was a way to enter GPS co-ordinates as waypoints on the map. You can set a GPS co-ordinate as a waypoint, but it's cumbersome: you have to guess that you are in the right area and then click to make a waypoint and it shows you the GPS. But if you are wrong, you have to keep clicking on a flat grey background until you hit the right spot.

just put the GPS coordinates into search (located under your plane selection)

its a little clunky but it will zoom into the area for you

and I finally got the map to let me ADD a custom waypoint in the middle of a plan. I guess I needed to hold the button longer.

there is a way, but it's overly obtuse and involves editing GPS cords of existing POI's to make them custom inside the Flight Plan file on your Real Life computer.

there is a lazy way to use GPS coordinates if people want

Mrs Squirrel's method is a bit of work and you may not need to do all of that. You can just put the GPS coordinates into the search box on the flight menu.
