You have to mod it in.
(who is level 24, with 64 unspent skill points, because I'm buying all my stats at my citadel until the costs get too much. :P And I'm still doing quite well.)
Because the higher your stat values are, the more they cost. So I'm buying them all while they're still low enough to be cheap and while I can still get away with it in terms of dealing with battles.
So when stats get a little too expensive (it's getting there), I'm just going to pour all my unspent points into my stats.
I have very protective plate armor, a firewalker staff (perfect for my red gem based build), and an orb of poison. The only things I could buy with that money are stats, and maybe better headgear (still using the rat king's amulet, because it rakes in the money).
