Scythe looks great with Reaper character BUT Katana is the best weapon for berserker.

The claymore is better. The katana can not stun scrakes very easily (only from the back or with some difficult combos), it has low damage (so it sucks for kiting fp), and it is also very spammy which makes you a bad zerk. As you tend to hold down the attack button, you don't time your hits properly and become bad with melee weapons. The claymore is therefore better, because it has better aoe, more damage, can stun scrakes, has a larger range (easier to kite fp with) and it is lighter so you run faster.
I used to favour using the axe/katana combo but that is much heavier, and makes you fiddle with more weapons, and makes you worse with melee. Anyone who claims that the katana is better for trash has not used the claymore properly- katana is easier no doubt, and that is why it is more popular, but it is also less effective and less skilled of a weapon.

Scythe is a little big stronger and looks better, but the Katana is faster. I prefer the Scythe.
