ah, i found it! it's in user.ini inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\KillingFloor\System at line 390 bCrosshairShow=false
and other settings for opacity and color ect.
so do not even insinuate that i am trolling!
Speaking of ignorance I think that sums up that entire paragraph you typed there.
Doom has no crosshairs and never has, neither has Duke Nukem. or the orginal Quake games. L4D and HL have crosshairs because you can't use ironsights to aim. The whole point of this game is accuracy and aiming for the head. It tries to seperate itself from normal shooters by actually needing skill to play. If you do some research you'll find out the head of TWI said that games like BF3 and CoD have ruined a generation of gamers, so then why would they make their game in any way like it? And if you look, I stated that there is a workshop mod for it.
As for old FPSes not having one - in old games there was no looking up and down, plus there was serious autoaim for shooting higher or lower. so a crosshair wasn't much needed. Whough ever since Duke Nukem 3D fps'es had crosshairs, sometimes they had to be enabled in the options, but they were there. Ever since mouse aiming became popular, crosshairs were a part of every fps game.
Dude, I played FPSes since Wolfenstein 3D, I know what I'm saying. UT and Q3 are new games by my time reckoning.
Also: I don't care for realism in games, I care for having fun. If I want realism I fire up a flight sim and grab a joystick. I especially like nonrealistic FPSes, I play Doom on a daily basis. All I ask is to be able to have fun from a game. You don't like the crosshair, so don't use it, I like it, so I would like an option to enable it.
What you say? Multiplayer and competitive and unfair advantage? I don't see anyone complaining about having crosshairs in other competitive games. Plus I'm not competitive any more. I'm getting old (over 30), my reflexes are not what they used to be, and I don't have enough time to keep up my gaming skills.
I might try that tape a spot in the center of my monitor :-P.
BTW: shooting IRL doesn't compare to computer games. When shooting IRL you might not have a crosshair, but you have things like perspective and depth perception, which allow you to actually position the weapon pretty accurately even without using sights (and that is why people who are missing an eye or have cross eye or other eye problems generally can't shoot accurately without very extensive training). We won't have such things in games for years to come, the modern VR goggles might help a little bit, but it still won't be the same.
Yeah, I might got a bit carried away too. I guess it's the feel of this thread that seems automatically hostile. Peace.
You would be correct! From memory, but don't quote me exactly; weapon spray decreases by 50% when looking down the ironsights. It's also reduced by crouching. Weapon spray values progressively increase with rapidly fired shots (any 2 shots within 0.5 sec) and reach a maximum exaggerated value after 6 quickly fired shots. The vector and the values of weapon spray is random.
The stats I've quoted might be slightly off, but you probably get the point: i.e. don't be the dude in Pulp Fiction, who suddenly runs into the room with John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson. He quickly unloads with a big handgun......and misses with every shot! We've all seen noobs on Normal spamming 9mm's till it's empty and the Clot is still approaching. It was not "divine intevention" in Pulp Fiction, it was "weapon spray"! It's worth noting John and Samuel dispatched that dude with a slow shot...calm and steady! Those two must have played Killing Floor!
For those who have not seen Pulp Fiction:

P.S. Weapon spray is a separate concern to recoil.
