MESSAGE TO NEW PLAYERS

First off: WELCOME TO KILLING FLOOR!
This game was one foot in the grave before you guys showed up; glad you're here.

That said, you probably have come across some... scrapes... with the more hardcore community. Look, they're not trying to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s, they're not telling you that you are not welcome and should uninstall; this game has a brutal learning curve:

Weapons are super expensive at low levels
Rage mechanics that are different enough from KF2 that you might as well be new to it if you come from this game's successor
Laser-tag hitboxes
Zeds can actually kill you
Perk roles
Zeds get a lot more numerous and tanky with each player joining

So obviously, this game isn't exactly something where you can do a "trial by fire" method where you hop on the highest difficulty and yolo swag it. If you do this, you will likely get booted. Again, people are not trying to be♥♥♥♥♥♥♥to you. If a player new to Killing Floor joins on the highest difficulty (even if said player cheats to get instant level 6), the team is forced to make one of two decisions: boot the player, or wipe and start over. I'm not exaggerating: all it takes is one person who is totally new to hop on suicidal or hell on earth to crank up the number of zeds and their tankiness to the point where the team doesn't have enough ammo to get through the wave.

To summarize: you guys coming here is like a breath of fresh air after living in a dumpster. I was so ♥♥♥♥ing happy, more than I have been in a very long time, and I'm sure I speak for most of us, even for those that may have booted you. Just start on normal mode, and work your way up.

It's rare to see people beeing nice to new guys joining the game instead of complaining about them ruining their games. Great post ;).

Thanks for the advice, and those links! I'll be reading through them.
I myself am a veteran in l4d2, and there I often see complete beginners in difficult modes who end up ruining whole rounds, so logically I stick to low levels here in KF to avoid being a burdon, I've recieved a lot of advice and tipps from experienced community members already, and I'm enjoying the game more and more!
