our field prep goes as follows straight after harvest
mulcher, cultivator, roller, seed, fertilise, herbicide and a final fertiliser all in the same day. we noticed that the roller keeps coming up even though we have already rolled it
ive had that also as well as with lime and also when using the map it wont update to show where you have been
Also not sure how you fertilise twice in same day, I didn't think you could.

Correct, you cannot 2x fertilizer in same day to the best of my knowledge. If you add fertilizer before sowing and then expect it to be added during the seeding process, it consumes the material, but doesn't change the soil state.
All you need is a field state change. It's been that way forever in FS games. fertilize, then cultivate and fertilize again. Or cultivate, fert, seed and then fert. As long as there is a field state change you can do it.
I have figured out that you can use the mechanical weeders anytime, even before seeding and the weeds will not appear until harvest. So it works exactly like herbicides. However unlike mechanical weeding, herbicides cost you lots of money which can reduce your income from a field significantly, especially on hard difficulty. There are also rumors that herbicides reduce yield but i don't know for sure on this one.
Anyway, i suggest replacing herbicides in your sequence with mechanical weeding. It does exactly same thing just cost you much less. Also weeders are much cheaper then spraying equipment. You still can do everything in one day and then just forget the field until next harvest.
I usually do this sequence in one day:
shallow cultivation, fertilize (1), seeding, fertilize (2), mechanical weeding.
Shallow cultivation is good enough but the tools require less power and run much faster. I don't mulch anymore as i didn't see any positive effect in my tests with regular crops such as wheat, barley, oat etc.. Same with rolling. I guess this is only needed for certain fruits.
I can confirm herbicides reduce yield. It is also highlighted on FS Academy post, but does not state the exact amount. At one point I may test to see the specific amount.

But @-X-spyhunter only had herbicide between ferts' so he'd be wasting fert.
Mulch 2.5%
Plow (If Required) - 15%
Lime (If Required) -15%
Roller/Stonepicker - No yield benefit, just purely to get rid of rocks that are small/large
Sow + 1 Fertilizer Stage - 22.5%
Soil Rolling - 2.5%
Weeding - 20%
2nd Fertilizer Stage next day - 22.5%
---
*100% bonus yield
*If you didn't use a weeder or hoe and used herbicide there is a penalty to yield. It isn't stated how much of a penalty it is, nor have I tested to see what it is. Might do so at some point.
