Hey,
I spent an hour in the morning clearing snow on my farm (Elm Creek) and it was really fun. It works good and it looks good! Was really impressed by the mechanics and felt I did a good job, snow heaps in good spots and an awesome winter landscape.
Then, a minute past noon all snow disappeared in 10 ingame minutes [edit: 0,5 seconds]. Hmm.
This was december and I was looking forward to execute my snow strategy of snow deposits and keep on clearing thru out the winter months when more snow arrives. Not so. It was all gone in a jiffy. Naturally, there could be mild days in winter, but it is not a good immersion keeping factor to turn everything green in Dec-Jan.
Please, dev team, make the snow stay (and even accumulate more) over Dec-Jan-Feb. Also, make the melt period (a lot) longer (not just 30 seconds in-game)! I know this is a new feature so I see a great potential here making it right.
There could be Contracts where you would need to snow-plow your neigboors farms, and/or streets and factories. Something to do in winter that would generate money while you plan for spring and coming growing season. I love snow plowing, but now it's just cosmetics that you can skip by fast-forward from morning to noon.
I hope the devs are aware of this and that we can look forward to an update with proper winter implemented thru at least Dec-Jan-Feb (where the snow stays/accumulates).
Happy holidays to all!
As stated in many other threads, if you play with one day seasons then snow will not have time to accumulate because you elect to play with the game on fast forward. It takes about three full in game days for snow to fully accumulate to the point of plowing/etc being needed. If you do not give it enough time per season you will see less — or no — snow at all depending on the weather that year.
I’ve been using 15 day seasons and never have had an issue, it just takes time to accumulate and to encounter the right weather in the right months/season. I just sleep when needed and since the sleep mod let’s you control how long you sleep for it’s a total non-issue.
I am on my first hours in FS22 (played FS17 alot).
Currently I have 2 days per month and that (according to you) could generate those instant melts in a day? December is 2 days, January is 2 days..., and so on.
So if I change to 15 days/season, what does that mean; 5 days per month? (winter being dec, jan, feb; 15/3=5?). Or do you mean 15 days per month?
I'd love to get this right and make snow stay. I do always play in real time (time speed = 1) and sleep instead of accelerating time. Although, could the acceleration of time (using "7" and "8" keys) mess up the seasons?
Grateful for thoughts and inputs here since I was baffled by the "green look" in dec-jan. Also, since I really enjoy snow plowing and having a persistent world thru dec-feb...
I'll check back on other threds, thank you.
