saitek heavy equipment wheel kit + linux mint
Anyone have any experience getting these to work? Fs22 seems to detect it without issue but all the directional buttons only function in one direction. stick left = right, stick right = right. stick up = down, stick down = down etc.

Exactly the same on my end, have you figured something out yet?

I remembered something from protonDB. Try switching to Proton 6.3-8 in Compatibility tab of FS22 settings. After that I was able to at least steer and brake/accelerate properly.

Still facing two issues:
1. One analog stick of the wheel seems to be completely bamboozled ingame, which makes the camera spin around like crazy.
2. Side panel isn't recognized in game at all but shown as XInput_Gamepad and I cannot map any buttons to it.

jtest-gtk shows all joystick controllers properly and they are properly calibrated and mapped though.

Maybe you got more luck with that.

So I could get the wheel and pedals to work if I went back to Proton 6, but the side panel is a complete no-go. Not ideal, as the game crashes a lot because the actual running of the game runs smoother in later versions of Proton. In the end, I reinstalled Windows. It's too expensive a bit of kit to just not be able to use it, and in Windows the kit is detected by FS22 straight away and works as intended with zero fuss.

I did a bit of a deep dive on wheel set ups when trying to solve it, and it turns out there's a lot of issues with them and linux/proton. Something that should be seriously looked into by Valve, really.
