How to get started?
Hello, there seems to be a lot to learn in this game. Now I did the tutorial, sadly it only seems to show the bare basics. It hasn't shown me how to do things like buying your own land and property, etc.

Will doing contract work help me guide me to know the game better and get settled better?

I would suggest finding a content creator that you like and watch some of their tutorial videos. Not only will you learn more about the game, but it may even pique your interest in heading a certain direction with your farm.

I have about 2500 hours into the game, and I still refer back when things are a little fuzzy. I recommend Farmer Cop and Farmer Klein, as they are where I go, but there are many other good sources of info out there.

Having said all that, I start my map with a goal and work toward achieving it. My first fs22 map was elm cr, and my goal was to make a BLT sandwich. Took about 300 hours of game time to make it happen believe it or not.

Contract work is useful in many ways.

It pay$$ and that is always good when starting out. Fertilizing contracts are easy quick money, and baling contracts pay well if you are willing to put in the work

You get familiar with the map, and learn that there are will be some fields that are more desireable to own and work than others. You will learn where all the sell points are and routes to get there.

You get a chance to try out different types of machines. You will definately find one you want to buy when you can afford it.

You get a chance to try out different types of jobs. Some you will like, some you will not.

A BLT Sandwich?

Wait what? That's in the game? Never would've guessed.

Got any good video to recommend me in particular? Sadly, the in-game tutorial isnt lengthy enough

I didn't really make a sandwich, but I had to grow wheat to make flour in order to make bread. I then had to produce lettuce and tomatoes. I then had to raise pigs. Originally I was going to use my imagination about pigs and bacon, but then I found a meat processing plant mod. Raising pigs forced me down a whole other path, but I kept learning as I went.

The sandwich thing may sound stupid, but it gave me a direction to head in and a goal to focus on, no matter what the game threw at me.(I get easily distracted sometimes) I got the idea after watching a video about production chains.

I'm sure farmer cop has a video titled getting started in fs 22 or something like that. He seems like a good dude. Start with that, and keep clicking on what interests you for the next video. There isn't one way to play.

I recently started playing so I think I´m in position to give you some noob tips

I´d do like that:

- Go to settings menu and put time 0,5 or real time (so the day will pass slowly and you don´t have hurry)
- Put month duration AT LEAST 3 days. 1 day default will make you confused as the animals food ends too fast. I´d start with 5+ days.
- go to the shop with a basket icon. Everything you will need is there.
- Buy a cheap field not so far the shop;
- Buy constructions/animals and buy a sheep barn or a chicken coop
- Buy chicken food or grass bale (sheep food)
- Buy a dozen of the animals you picked;
- Buy a forklift (I like the manitou one, for me is the easier to control) and a pickup
- Buy a 20k farmhouse to spend the day

then you drive the animal food with the forklift to the spot in the barn/coop with unloading icon. If your terrain is near enough you can drive with the forklift, if not, learn how to control the forklift and dump the food on the pickup (and then after loaded press L to tie safe the package on the trunk so it won´t spill if you are a bad driver)

go to your farmhouse and sleep

next morning you´ll see in the coop/barn some eggs or wool appeared. load it with the forklift on the pickup (some people use autoload mods, I dont, I like forklifts)
check the menu with graphic bars where people are demanding eggs/wool, then open the map and find the market/spinnery.
drive there and unload the stuff in the marked area.

well done you are in the business!

you already have a functioning farm.
now you go to the contracts to learn how to do with the crops and get some extra bucks.

pick plowing contracts because they are easier. ask to have rented equipment. the equipment will be showed on the garage. drive the tractor near the equipment (like the plow) until it shows a message that you can attach it pressing Q

soon you´llbe able to get harvesting contracts, bailing, etc and will be ready to plant in your own land. then you´ll need to plow, cultivate, seed and harvest. every thing has its own equipment that can be pulled by tractors and some crops has its special equipments.

Farming Cop, AF Farmz and Never Too Old Gamer are good on YouTube. Try them and you will see many others come up and most are great and do great work.

I started studying the map, bought a tractor and driving like crazy. The AI controlled driver via "create a job" and "goto" function can bring you around the map without driving yourself. Smart devs should tell Euro truck simulator to give players a choice to drive or not to drive to deliver goods. Having fun before getting rich is rewarding for sanity's sake. Cheers.

I purchase a base for the farm and then I install 25 Federal Government Subsidy signs right on top of each other hidden in the heaviest underbrush or ditch I can find. I also install 25 of the local government (green signs) subsidy signs and then another 20 of the Federal Signs. I then go into game setting and acelerate the game time to 360 which makes time literally fly and let it run for an accelerated 24 hours. I then return the time to normal and I will have around 20,000,000 Dollars in my account so I can commence to purchase any property I want along with equipment and installing any barns, buildings and such on my farm home base (or Headquarters). It is very easy to get money this way and you do not have to go into the game's registry and screw up something. I like the big field maps with fields 50 to 100 acres each. To farm 500 to 700 acres I purchase all implements in multiples of 3 and get the biggest ones I can find to make it faster when plowing, fertilizing, and so forth. Those signs will keep on giving you money throughout the game.
