Looking for map. Start small and expanding.
Hello I'm looking for a map that has many small fields that you can expand.
I've always like to start with nothing and work my way up. Get moor and bigger equipment. Merge field and rebuild the farm
Building my own farm is not a problem, but finding a nice map that feels "alive" is harder.
Have spend hours looking for maps but can't find anything good.
Many of the polish maps are made for small equipment, here you can't expand a lot and you can't rebuild them so much.
Just bomb me with ideas on good maps.

Currently running a server on the Elk Mountain Wyoming map, it only has maybe 10 smallish fields on the map, it has tons of room to expand, I'm currently running small to medium equipment with great success.
Haven't thought of that map. I will take a look tonight. Thanks
ballyspring you can remove buildings hedges fences ect to merge fields and customize your farm to your liking. its a euro map with tight lanes small to medium fields.
I had the same problem about finding a really cool map that feels alive. I found Black River really scratches that itch for me.
Attingham is good for that, also Brzowska (spelling?) has very small fields and is a good map
Try the "nomans land" map. You start with old equipement and only 1 field. On the top of the machine dealer you'll find a "start gift" if you need...

Haha I've used that map A LOT as a test map, never knew that :)
(I just use the cpAddMoney command to add silly amount of money :) )

EDIT: Collecting them gave my an achivement from another map. Odd.

Zielonka. Comes in the premium edition. Has lots of small and medium size rectangular fields that can easily be joined together, and they are also good fields for hiring the workers on.

But it is so BOOORING! Like most of the maps released by GIANTS.

I have to agree. After Silverrun, which I thought was an excellent map by Giants standards, Zielonka was a huge let down. Flat, square, boring. I don't even know if I lasted 50 hours on it.

I hear ya. Seems most good maps are not on Modhub. I refuse to go to 3rd party sites. Im stuck with only maps on Modhub. My choice. The last time I got a map from a 3rd party site, I got a virus on my computer. Wont do that again.
Another option if you haven't checked it out - Alma, Missouri (playing that currently). There are three farms and one or two of them may fit the small starter farm category nicely, and it is (I find) a very realistically detailed map. By realistic I do not mean crammed with theme park topography, I mean somewhere that looks and feels like a real rural farming town. The town itself feels real and alive, and the natural detailing on the map feels spot on. You can easily merge and redefine fields into larger ones, though you will want or need to respect certain physical bounds (eg: gullies, woods etc).

Some of the fields around the larger farm are layed out in a way that seems more like a golf course was bought up and converted to farming a few holes at a time - I intend to buy those up and re-define field boundaries more sensibly.

If you like having to deal with snow in winter they've done something different with this map such that you do have reasonably thick snow cover most of the winter that you will need to clear if you have a lot of hauling to do. (They did this by making the temperature plummet abruptly at the start of winter, adding an extra snow layer or two, then having the temperature jump back again abruptly the 1st day of spring to melt the snow.)

I would recommend New Lands, its a beautiful map with a lot of different sell points, but large open land that hasn't been touched, can be quite challenging as its not the flattest map in the world. Probably a good role play map too.

the Western WIlds is by the same creator as No Mans Land, and has a bit more "life" to it, rather than just a wide empty map with just a single shop area, it has a run down/abandoned farm near the middle, various shop and sell points. The only problem I had with this map is that the main sell point is a static train, and you have to move the products by conveyor or using forks for pallets, which is a little more realistic sure but can be pretty tedious after a while.

Both these maps don't have any real farmlands and require you to start from scratch.
