The tires are important if you use the mud system mod, because narrows sink the fastest, and tracked, the slowest.
Generally, I'll use a higher powered small or lower powered medium with narrows for those jobs. Something like the JCB Fastrack with regular tires for most jobs, and a tracked large tractor only when needed, for pulling the sub soiler, planter, big seeder.
I haven't really found a real need for wide, or dual tires.
The "advantage" of wide/weighted/dual tires are just as mentioned above:
They give your tractor a bit more "Oompf" for slightly lesser bill to pay when compared to buying completely new vehicle - as long as the power requirements are met!
Also note that once you've bought a set of tires for the vehicle, it'll be free to switch between them if/when you need different set for different job!
And if you're doing silo/silage work without additional tools, you'll pretty easily notice how that added weight and compacting surfaces make the work go much faster. Now add leveller or compactor and even small/medium tractor can get bigger silos ready in reasonable time!
This. And the helpers have a hard time adjusting to wider tires/duals. Also, it should be noted that while the narrows are coded in the .xml as 'careWheels", which affects crop destruction, I believe the only difference between regular/wide/duals, from a technical game standpoint is the weight. So I'd prefer regular weighted tires over non weighted wide tires any day.
Oh that is helpful and something I didn't know. That you can switch tires for free after you have bought an initial set. Thanks everyone, I'll just go with the Standards then without worry. And switch if necessary as the situation demands.
