How come my AI worker just sits there doing nothing
okay so i havent played this game since last year. and even then i only put about 13 hours in the game so im still a noob by all standards.

So i started a new game and bought a small field that had parsnips ready to harvest. Took me forever to figure out i needed some special type of harvester i hook onto a tractor to harvest them. Any way i bought like the smallest and cheapest harvester along with a medium tractor.

However i noticed with the harvester i would nee a small tractor with a trailer along side it at all times because the harvester doesnt store the parsnips anywhere, you just extent the "pipe" and it flows out. so if you dont have a trailer ready to catch the parsnips they just get wasted.

So clearly i would drive the tractor with the trailer while an AI drives my tractor harvesting the parsnips right? Nope. I hire an AI worker for the tractor with the harvester and he just sits there right where i had parked the tractor not doing a damn thing.

I even tried driving the tractor on the field myself then hiring the AI with the same result. the AI just sits there doing nothing. For some reason, on another field that had canola the AI used a regualr harvester with a header just fine. But for some dumb reason they wont work my tractor with the parsnip harvester attachment and just sit in one spot idly doing nothing.

I dont understand what im doing wrong. Id otherwise try having the AI drive my tractor with the trailer while i harvest but the functionality for that is far too complicated to figure out for me.

I just dont get why my AI will harvest with a canola harvester but not my tractor for the parsnips.

The new crops are NOT vanilla helper friendly, this was noticed very quickly after Premium launched. Most are lucky if they work at all for them.

And generally: More specialized the equipment or the job is, the higher are the chances for Helpers to "just get stuck/lost" as they're not really meant for such jobs.

Most of the Helper problems can be mitigated by using CoursePlay as it doesn't rely on Helper figuring it out by itself. All it has to is to follow the route.

Many of the tasks involved with root veggies (and other more difficult/involved tasks!) can also be automated via CoursePlay and AutoDrive combo. It is not going to easy to start figuring these out but once you've "got it", it'll make your farm operations go WAY MORE smoothly. Thankfully there's a lot of Youtube tutorials for different tasks that tell you how to set each part up - or at least point you to right direction.
