Edting a savegame map
My question is weather it is possible to edit a savegame map and continue to play with it.
Mostly I want to delete some farm buildings like houses, silos, decorative items, etc..., and also add or modify some objectss. I did this in FS2019 some years ago, but actually I dont remenber exactly how I did it. The idea is to keep using my actual farm in Elmscreek map, with all the equipment, improvements, purchased land, etc., and also need to know where should be located the map.i3d corresponding to my saved game. I´ve been playing this career since more than one year, I´ve spent a lot of game time and I do not want to start a new one again. Thanks

As long as you edit the same map/mod you are using, you should be fine.
I've modified several saves' worth of Elmcreeks mid-play for example.

Map itself holds only the "canvas" with the pre-placed buildings etc., all placeables/vehicles (not traffic)/fields you yourself add in-game are held within the save. So if you change the map and do not touch the save game files, you should still have all your own stuff exactly where you left them.

OFC the problem here is that if you want to start new save with same map, you will start with edited version unless you replace it with the backup of vanilla.

Thanks ProviD for your clear and detailed answer to my question. Nevertheless where should I look for the Elmscreek map.id3 in my hard drive. I tried to find it under elmscreek.i3d name but it was impossible.

Vanilla Maps are located in your Steam/game install location:
..Steam/steamapps/common/Farming Simulator 22/data/maps

Elmcreek is the "mapUS" - you want to make a backup of this folder or -at least- the "map.i3d" within!

It's really annoying how they decided going with "map country" format was a logical idea.

Like I said previously, the Save handles the placeables etc so while you could make edits to the map itself, it is WAY SAFER and easier to edit the save for those!

1 - If youre playing the map that came with the game, i would make a mod of it in the editor and edit the savegame files to use that new mod map.
If its already a mod map, then i would make a backup of it just in case something went wrong so you could go back to whats working.

2 - Edits to terrain and foliage is possible by swapping and renaming a few files, otherwise you wont see the changes when you open the editor, and vice versa, you wouldnt see the changes made in the editor when you start your savegame.

3 - As ProviD says, the placeable objects are saved in your savegame files which overrules what changes you might make in the placeable.xml file in the map.
So always make sure that what you want to add or remove, is done from the savegame files.

4 - I would always try to keep my map "updated" as close to my savegame as possible.
That way you always have a solid backup if something goes wrong.

5 - Backup, backup and some more backup.

Ooh! I didn't even think about making the Mod Version of Elmcreek map and pointing the save to that direction!

Have to try that one myself at some point, would make my life lot easier! :D

Many thanks ProviD and Randy for your assistance. I will follow your instructions and recomendations very carefully and will let you know about the results. I think that making a mod version of Elmcreek is a great idea, in order to preserve the original game map.
Thanks

Great,!!!!! Everything is working perfectly. I made a back up copy of the original Elmcreek map. After that I edited the playing map, deleting, farm houses, adding and modifying bridges and everything is working. Thanks a lot to both of you for your help.
