FS22 xbox controller steering not working

I've been playing FS22 with an Xbox controller for a long time with no problems whatsoever but I recently gave it a rest for a few months. On returning to the game, however, I found that the steering wasn't working despite all other buttons operating normally. The left stick is configured correctly in the in-game controls but when trying to steer the wheels move a very small amount left and right and then stop. It is not a dead zone issue and the controller functions perfectly in all respects in other games so it's not a problem with the controller. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled both FS22 and also Steam itself in an attempt to resolve the issue but have had no luck whatsoever. Steering works fine with keyboard controls so the game seems okay. I contacted Giants who, despite my detailed description, told me it was a faulty controller!!! I cannot find any reference to this issue anywhere and would love it if someone can offer a solution. Thank you.

dont know if this will help but i had the same problem and found that the A and D keys for steering were also set for secondary keys but reversed. I unbound the secondary keys and also found that the switch camera key was also the A key. I unbound that one also and it fixed the problem.

i found this on reddit ......"Are you using a mod called Classic Steering? If so, get rid of it. I still don't understand how it hasn't been removed from ModHub, or how it passed testing to begin with." I disabled clsssic steering and problem solved

Same problem, same cause; Classic Steering Deleted and all ok.

Thus clsssic steering is really bad. They should remove it. I had the same problem not steering to the left or right with my controller. I removed the mod and all is well again.
