how to use the throttle control

hi im asking for someone to explain how i activate the hand throttle control, the one where it has more throttle and less throttle?
it was easy in fs19 but for some reason i cant find the setting to config a key for me to use to activate it.

Hold down 3 and then you should get full throttle. Then press 1 until you slow down to the speed you want and 2 to put the speed back up. Don't use the keys on the number pad, use the ones above the keyboard.

Cruise control? Yes but no need to hold "3" down. One touch turns cruise on and off, "1" and "2" adjust it down and up.

But if the cruise control has never been set before you have to hold 3 for a second to get it started.

Unfortunately, you don't have direct keyboard control over your throttle, just cruise control. It's just one of those weird little quirks that persists, like how your brakes don't work when the engine isn't running. Seems like an oversight after the manual gearbox options were added, but here we are.

No. That is just for switching between max speed and set speed.

If you're able to use script-mods (i.e. playing on PC) and look for "a bit more" versatility than the vanilla 'cruise controls' in FS22, there are the following mods (available from the game's downloadable content) which may be useful:

I personally use the 'SpeedControl' mod, due to the 3 speed memory settings, which I think was how it worked in the even older FS version(s).

Not sure if "direct control" mean what I think it means but "W" and "S" seem to do a reasonable job, given the limitations of a keyboard.

I mean there's no mechanism with which you can control the rate of fuel going into the engine, and thus its power. You can only control vehicle speed using cruise control.

If something like a throttle lever was does along the same lines as cruise control, it would combine well with the manual gearbox option to represent older equipment.
