Cotton contract not finishable
Map: Haute Beyleron
Field: 11
Harvester: JD CP690

I managed to complete 3 bales with 1437l (57%) cotton and 5159 (51%) of a bale in the machine. The contract sits at 98% completion and i have no idea how to finish it, as it doesn't seem possible to unload the partial bale, neither on a field nor at the target sele spot.

Am i missing anything here?

You should be able to force the bale to unload even if it is unfinished. If you cannot, then no, the contract cannot be finished. Did you use a modded machine, or a straight vanilla one? often modded machines are missing configurations that allow for discharge of a partial bale. Also make sure you got every scrap of cotton from the field. Even a small patch at the edge could be stopping you as most contracts take into consideration partial bales and don't count them towards the goal.

Only do contracts with the Case IH cotton harvester. I've had the same trouble with the John Deere cotton harvester.

I've had to fail a contract due to this situation. Stupid harvester!! Although not as big of a deal if you own it(you can sell that cotton next year), If you do contracts, it is a game killer. I made sure I bought the case IH harvester when I got into cotton for myself.

When it first happened to me, I did a google search, and the tip that stuck in my head about the JD harvester was "take a picture of it when it is new, cause you will never be able to fold it up again"

John Deere cotton harvester is broken. Use a mod to fill the tank and allow it to empty and complete contract... then never take cotton harvesting contracts with John Deere equipment again.

Same here... But i can find a lost answer about this question and a lot people can unload unfunished bale... I see a lot answer like "new update i we can now do it this" so now i don't know nothing... I got this game from Xbox game pass but i see on steam problem are the same...

there is as mod on modhub called better contracts i believe it gives slightly better payouts more missions and info on missions and reduces the % needed slightly so you dont have to get crazy about getting every last spec i think its 90% or so

So it does sound it's due to this particular harvester. And yes, it was the vanilla one, not a modded one. There simply isn't an option to move cotton from the reservoir to the bale press and to eject partial bales.
The field was picked clean, there wasn't a single piece left, which made the whole thing so annoying.
As usually even most vanilla contract are content with leaving chunks for the field and half a shipment.

I read somewhere that i can edit the vehicles XML files and give it a full bale. I think i'll look into that and avoid the JD harvester in the future.

no worries... it is a lack of tests and utter lack of respect and quality with the players.
Maybe they will release some sort of DLC to sell just to fix this.

To be perfectly fair, something like this can easily happen. The contract system is pretty rudimentary, and it works perfectly 9/10 times.
It's just that this particular machine wasn't the best choice for this particular field.

And i'm not expecting GIANTS to test, by hand, each and every map / field / crop / vehicle combination.

Heck, i wouldn't even rule out that "Precision Farming" did some shenanigans here regarding crop yield.

It's unfortunate and they could have change the JD CP690 by giving it a manual unload function, yes, but i'm not particularly mad about it.
Stuff like this simply happens, and with the game keeping every possible variable of your save file in convenient XML files, it's easy to fix should something like this ever happen.

I looked at the vehicles XML, looked for the JD, set its bailer load to 10k (max value), it pooped out a bail and the contract was done.

The problem tho is the JD harvester and not the contract. It was functional once tho has become broken after some patches.

the mod better contracts not only fixes all these problems but also adds a lot of content and just over all quality of life to doing missions

If i remember well, they have a command for manual unload for the baler, you need to be on your tool for the order and look in the F1 menu order, and swich between the 86 page of order and you mush find the manual unload,

on my side i use only small square baller, and it's happend more of the time when i finish they stay always something in the hole and i put it out manually...,

the bale they go out, go out with the same dimension of other but when you look it they have less think in it.
