Least convoluted / easiest FS game?
Let me start off by saying, "I am no expert, far from it." I am on the spectrum, and I have ADHD, so my attention span isn't the best, and I have a pretty poor memory. So the more convoluted something is, the harder it is for me to get anything out of it, if that makes sense. Anyway, I have played bits of 17, 19, and now 22, and to be honest about it, I still don't fully know what the heck I am doing. So I am wondering which is the best FS game for beginners and for learning the game before moving on up to the newer iterations? Thanks.

PS: I don't mind the older graphics, so that's not an issue. Also, I watched some videos, and FS 13 appears to be a good start. What do you guys think?

Edit: I believe that I am now starting to get the hang of FS22, as I have been using mods and the developer controls to make things easier for me while I learn the ropes. I am still far from being an expert, but I can at least plant the crops and harvest them. I am also dabbling with raising animals as well even though it's not really easy. I wanted to take the time to mention that I appreciated all of the comments that provided me with advice. Also, I don't play online because I prefer to play offline, so I hope everyone who is looking for partners finds some good co-op players. Thanks again.

You could play the farm simulator apps on your phone. They're like a simpler version of farm sim for PC.

Try some YouTube videos. There are many tutorials and play throughs. I think you can learn a lot by watching.

Thanks for the heads-up about the apps.

I could do that; I just don't know if my memory could contain all that information. I get confused very easily.

Well, ive started with the FS16...then the FS19 and now FS22....but imo the FS19 is the best for single player. Its cheaper now and still have more mods.

For the gameplay...the FS19 dont have the production lines like the FS22...that makes the game much easier and less confusing.

Try to keep it simple at the start...go for grain, plant it, harvest it and sell it. Well, you wont become rich that way but you learn the very basics about all the machines and the gameplay. Dont download to much mods at the beginning. Use what you have at the start and start with the original first map. Its easy to handle. You can change to another one later when you know how things work.

Have fun and dont stress yourself :steamhappy:

Well, you could join a mature friendly multiplayer server like ours where you can come along and just be a contractor or farm hand and help out on others farms without any pressure and where people will be happy to teach you as you go.
Friend me if you are interested.

My recommendation would be to stay with the current game, and simply disable all the extra work steps and difficulty options you can to simplify the game.
Once you've managed to work your way into that, you can gradually enable things until you feel comfortable with the amount of things to do.

Another good tip is to look up how to activate the dev console, and start a playthrough using the gsMoneyAdd cheat as a "school" farm. You'll be able to buy anything you want, so you can test different crop types, different plows/seeders/harvesters, learn to do contracts (which teach a LOT of different types of farming), and even buy some forestry areas and some forestry gear to learn that (great if you play FS22, since Silver Run is all forestry). I've done it that way (FS22 is my first step into the FS community), and it helped SO much since I was able to try every crop (sugar cane is a damn nightmare btw) and learn how to run forestry harvesters before starting Silver Run.

perhaps a multi player game, and players can give you a "hands on" help?

Alternatively, just get the government subsidy sign mod from the ingame modhub.

The hints with the Multiplayer Servers are good...on the servers i know the people are friendly and helpful...and hiring as a Farm Helper is a good thing to learn how things work without careing about Buildings, machines or money management. Plus...farm helpers are hard to find so you shouldnt have a problem to find a good server. In fact i could need a helper for my own farm but its a german server so im not sure if you fit to it.
If the MP server is large enough, you can even get your own farm on the same server when you think youve learned enough.

Something I don't see anyone mention.

FS11.
The game took quite a leap from FS11 to FS13.

A few examples which might be good for you in FS11:
- No plowing required at all (They are in-game but functions the same as cultivating)
- While the newer games give you the option for multistage fertilization, this game only uses the single-pass option.
- No weeds
- Only 4 crops (Wheat, Barley, Canola and Corn)
- Only one type of animals (Cows)
- The machinery is very simple to use (Lights are toggle on/off only, no gearboxes, very simple horsepower system, hardly any suspension and very simple 4 speed cruisecontrol)
