Log Loading, best options

Hi, i am trying around with different tools to load 12m logs on the Trailers.

So far i used the Volvo excavator with the orange grabbler on it. It manages to grab 1 log with maybe 1 very thin one additional.
The Crane on the new green Logging Tractor seems very weak, it can lift 1 log tho.
Then i tried the 2 new Volvo wheel loaders with the big logging addons. It is terrible. Its more for less longer logs as it cant turn the addon like the Excavator or Tractor so you need as much space to move as the Logs are long. But then it ycould potentially take like 10 Logs at once just by the size of the addon. But i only manged take a max of 2 logs in it as it will just push the logs in front of it and the clamp is way to weak to push the logs into the addon. It in my opinion doesnt work as it should.
So my best option so far is still the Excavator with the ornage Addon claw. It is heavy enough to even grab 12m Logs at the end and still hold them almost horizontal.
I also enjoy to just use the whinch on the big Logging Tractor to tow Logs around.

What is you guysfavorit loader vehicle and addon to load logs on Trailers or Containers?

Try using a yarder with one end near the felled trees and one some distance away. Then put your trailer or container in line with it at the far end. If done carefully you can literally drag the logs right on/in. The orange grappler is a pain, If you go that route I'd definately recommend the black grappler that comes with the excavator, just be sure to consider where the logs' center of mass is (usually NOT the center of the log) when picking up longer logs.

^ What wolfedg said the yarder (the good yarder that can do both up/down hill) is great for loading trailers. In the forestry machines section, the last machine in the list is good for moving around logs when needed (the giant volvo one). if you continue to hold the button for clamping the logs two extra clamps come down to secure what logs you scooped up. this is good for moving things into position to reach the yarder lines when they were out of reach.

Also don't forget the height of the logging trailers can be lowered for loading, at least the one I have does. I rarely use that though, since I almost always use the yarder to load.

Is the yarder the thing with the cables? Like a Cable line over the trailer you say? Sorry i play in german so i try to understand ;).

Yes that's the thing with the cable line. bring the carriage on the cable line close to nearby logs and hook them up to it. Then guide them into the trailer. takes some practice, but it is in my opinion the funnest and easiest way to load a trailer.

Ok i haven tried the big volvo loader and the cables yet. Might do that next then. The big Volvo excavator is pretty good too in my opinion. I am using the orange grabbler on it because it is strong and it doesnt matter if i pick it in the middle or not.

The crane and grab physics is terrible in this game :/ Feels nothing like real life when everything is swinging around.

Wish they would improve that.

If you want equipment that feels right, check out FDR logging mods. You may be unhappy with the DLC purchase.

I’ve been using fdr mods for a few years now. Today I sold my platinum expansion mods and got my FDR mods going on Silverrun.

For the life of me I couldn’t get my dual sticks (T16000) to work with the new equipment on platinum. Not one keybind would work. Today I did more logging then I did in 3 days.

They may not be as pretty as Giants…but they work seamlessly once you setup your keybinds.

Just don’t have enough money to get my loaders!!!!
