Player name?

Why when I give my player a name in game and confirm it. Then when I leave the game and come back it is no longer saved?

I've been wondering this too. I've edited my name in the farms.xml file, but the game resets it when I save.

If I remember correctly there is a spot in a different, XML, games or game settings maybe, I had to do the same thing but it wasn't in the farms XML where I did it. After I changed it, it's always good now

There is a line in the gamesettings.xml file which starts with <onlinePresenceName>. Changing the name shown there might make the name change in game permanent.

That File can not be edited, How do i edit it?

Open the file with Notepad. You should be able to edit it.

I use notepad++ its free to download

After i select multiplayer, on the next screen there is option to change online presence name and it seems to be persistent. At least for me anyway.
When I change name when I am already in game I noticed that it always reverts back when you shut down game and start again.

If you edit the game settings xml line 22 with notepad++ it will stay what you set it to.
