Do steering wheels work? (Not buying if they don't)

Do steering wheels work? Because in the last two versions my steering wheel wasn't detected by the game (in any other game and outside of them the wheel works like a charm)

my thrustmaster t500 with pedals works great in combination with sidepanel from logitech ... lots of buttons to assign and almost no more keyboard needed for the basic duty onto roads and fields

They work -- I play full simpit, if you can deal with setting bindings (and backing those up) you're good.

My wheels also worked find in 17 and 19 so, make sure you have their drivers and stuff.

There were day one issues with my G27 on FS19. Many others experienced the same. However, I was extremely surprised that on day one my G27 worked fine in FS22. All's been working fine through all the updates.

FS22 detected my Fanatec CSL Elite without any problems. You'll need to tweak the deadzone setting for the steering as the default 14% assumes that you're using a controller. If you're using a wheel, you'll probably want that set to 0%.

T300 with the SF1000 Wheel and the T.1600M Joystick. Working almost perfectly. Only issue is the slider on the Joystick. Almost 60 Buttons to map. Just change the deadzone to 0% and you're good. Just missing the Force Feedback.

My T500 didn't got recognized. With several game and driver versions. The only thing showing up was my xbox controler. Yes, I tried it without the xbox one plugged in.
But I don't remember if it was just the xbox one. I think the xbox elite didn't got recognized by the game either. But I barely have touched the game, so I don't remember.
A few times an update came I tried, wheel still not working. Checked if the drivers for the wheel where still up to date, updated if nessensary, still nothing.

Not a deadzone issue. There is no way in the game to select the wheel as input device. At all. It doesn't show up.
Yes, the wheel works in the test app, and it works in other games. Yes, right after I tried Farming Sim (19/17).

And, yes, I deinstalled the game, and deleted ALL the settings (yes, really all of them), redownloaded it, verified it (before the first start) and still nothing.

The T500 is discontinued for a while. Maybe the latest driver for that wheel is too old for the game?

No chance in hell. Last driver update was 20th of December 2021.
Would also not explain why the game doesn't detect the separte TH8 shift stick. And yes, I tried them seperatly. IMHO I even tried another no name wired xbox clone controller which did got found. But TBH it has been so long my memory is a little fuzzy on some of the details.

Sometimes turning off Steam input and letting the game handle it works better - certainly does with my ancient momo wheel which does not work at all with steam input (Steam seems to think everything is a gamepad).

Try it without the Shifter. I have problems in the game with my TH8A connected. Without the shifter, everything works as intended

I just tried the game with G29 and H-Shifter, don't like it and clutch isn't working plus had some problems with gears. I rather just keep on playing this game with mouse and keyboard. Maybe because I use often AI workers, run around the farm and I like to build stuff. Don't need wheel that much, I'll just use it with ETS2. ATS etc.

Try using a controller. I also have wheel but it's a bit much setting it up every time for this game so I started using a mix of controller for driving and switch to M+K for on foot stuff or going through menus. Controller is not as good as a wheel but easier to switch to M+K and certainly better than M+K for driving.
